Oh sick, he's anti-trans too. I wonder how much of this has been known in the industry and is a reason their guest list is sort of drying up.

I love Kalis. I wish he had gone on The Bunt instead.

Anyone who legitimately uses "keyboard warriors" as a complaint is 100% a kook.

Also remember on The Nine Club when Roger said on Slap of=off because it was some automatic filter that changes it when someone types that a rider is off something so it doesn't show up on search engines or some shit like that? Kinda tells you all you need to know about this dude's rational thinking skills.

The keyboard warriors thing was such a fucking abhorrent and juvenile way to respond to people rightly taking issue with how the brain trust at the nine club let Oblow spew his misogynist bullshit. Truly sad that the people hosting the biggest podcast in skating are so absolutely not up to the task.

I'll assume Roger is reading all these comments while furiously masturbating to the Principal Skinner "No, it's the children who are wrong" meme.

I always thought Roger would be the one commenting on slap, but he complains about it like a little bitch.  These guys have the intelligence and real-world awareness of middle schoolers.  I guess that's what happens when they don't venture outside their little skate bubbles.  As time goes on and social media makes everyone's thoughts and persona more accessible, it's clear to see who the kooks are.  Roger seems bitter the nine club gets scrutiny and is sinking, but he is just realizing he has to get a job.

People that act like skating is bigger than shit like rape, racism, and murder suck.  And ya'll suck 9 club.

I remember when they were reviewing Baker 4 Roger very casually accused Beagle of smoking crack in a clip because that's what he thought moon rock was. Everyone else in the room seemed pretty uncomfortable and tried correcting him and he would not back down. I think later they even looked it up and he still would not admit he was wrong.

Requote for posterity sake

Oof!

I used to pay for a nine club gold membership but quickly realised what a scam it was. Havent listened to an episode in a long time.

Are people still listening/watching??

Those screen grabs are pretty damning.

Pretty sure he suggested it was molly, not that that’s any smarter nor does it make this dweeb look cooler.

It always blows my mind when people like this make their silly views so public while working for companies that I’d assume give you the boot if they were to see it—read, Hot Ones, not the nice club, they don’t know up from down.

I appreciate the honesty. I enjoyed Rog's skate nerdiness and snark. Now I know, I don't fuck with him. What's worse is cultivating an audience based on a facade...Ellis...

On one of the nine club shows they were talking about how filmers should be properly compensated. I thought that was one of the more interesting things they've discussed so I reached out to Roger (a filmer) and expressed my thoughts on it and that I had agreed with what they were saying. It was a really long message that I took some time to write out and thought out of anyone on that show, he would appreciate it and have something insightful to say back. All he responded with was a smiley face emoji.

I felt like that experience had a lot to say about his character.

calling him names and stuff like that ain't really helping. roger is a case study on what decades of alcohol abuse do to a mf's brain.

it fucking hurts to look at because i literally grew up with the nine club. i'll be 25 this year, i've been tuning in since i was 16, roger has always been my favorite guy on there because of his skate knowledge, but all those stellas had me a little worried for him, especially since i've had alcoholics in my close family and i have first-hand experiences of how it feels to interact with them. i'm glad that he stopped drinking, but it looks like he's filling that void with conspiracies and right wing politics, which is all too common. both are dumb fucking habits, but your old ass probably feels more intelligent thinking like that.

i believe that pretty much all people who join nationalist, neo-nazi etc. groups or are in any way interested in that stuff are generally weak as fuck and they feel a need to belong, to associate with other people, since they themselves hold no weight and don't mean anything to anybody. this is why they all get together and hate on other groups of people, it makes them feel better about themselves, because in regular life they can't keep their shit together.

roger is like 50, uneducated, might not get no pussy and that one "his girl" he kept mentioning probably lives in mrs. foster's home for imaginary friends. what else can this guy do other than spend all his free time on twitter and hate on stuff that his alcoholic brain can't comprehend?

it's just sad. roger if you're reading this please see the light. go back to school, become a better person, do something positive with your life and i hope to see you thriving instead of being a miserable asshole. i really do.

ah yeah, you're right. Not as damning as crack I suppose, but still another example of him acting like a contrarian know-it-all.

damn i didnt read the interview, i thought the idea for the database was sick... i have been wanting to do something like this for awhile. Not sure if you guys have checked out the guide i have been working on for trucks linked in my signature, right now it just covers 8.25" size (most common deck size) but I am going to expand it when I get another chunk of time. you can get a good comparison of what each truck is like tho in relation to the other styles within its own brand and vs the other brands all in one place.

I had something kinda long written up, but, I deleted.  Just really bummed that we got guys like this in skateboarding (and in general life) - type of dude to tell an LGTBQ skater they're down for the cause only to talk shit behind their back.  we need less Bagley and more Brian Andersons, guys like Hsu supporting Arin, There Skateboards etc...

Roger is the only guy from that crew that I could ever listen to. Disappointing, but not surprising.

I've seen middle-age depression hit a lot of people, men especially, in my social circle hard. People need friends, not a wide circle of industry "homies", or they turn into complete assholes.

Very troubling when people relate and sympathize more with the guys who get "cancelled" for being rapists and abusers than they do to the victims.

"I think if you just ignore him he’s going to be the joke of the industry and he’s not even going to realize it."

Like he's going to give a fuck. Saying this shows how important the industry circle-jerk is to Roger Bagley. Imagine a bunch of old industry heads disagreeing with you! Like that's the worst thing that could happen to a person. Says so much about Roger's moral barometer that this is the most damning thing he can think of, that being ignored is the ultimate punishment.

This is pretty much it.  He’s definitely a victim, but not of trans rights or cancel culture.  Social media is ruining people and they’re so pissed off and distracted by bullshit they don’t even realize it.  As an ex-drinker with anxiety myself, I’m all too familiar with unhealthy habits and coping mechanisms like the ones he’s falling to.
