that's odd. it was awhile ago but the skatepark of tampa instagram posted a video of somebody skating in drag and he said some pretty gross shit in the comments

i tend to hang out with older gays, and only they have said some shit like "bisexuals/trans don't belong in LGBT+". and it's white cis-men saying that. haven't had any of these things with anyone under 40 or so (except for my gay black roommate, he's a shitty person, period).

yeah, i think the guy i know may lean towards being anti-trans too but i'm not so sure. it's definitely more common than it seems as the other boarder mentioned

Couldn't really care less what political posts Roger 'likes' on Twitter but man the Nine Club sucks. I try and listen to an episode here and there and can never sit through it. It started off great but it's just the same safe old boring bullshit every time. Chris ain't funny, Kelly is a brown nosed and Jeron has never contributed a single interesting opinion or observation. They obviously know the ship is sinking and none of them want to get a job so why not take a risk and ruffle some feathers and make the episodes a bit more interesting

I met Roger once in the late 90s-early 2000s. He was TM for one of the first CONS teams with Chany, Felix and Kenny Anderson.

I was showing them around town. He was kinda a dick to the locals, so I didn't pay him much attention.

I will say, it was the first time I had ever seen a TM skating the demo more intensely than any of the pros.

I think it is OK to some degree to be like "I ONLY care about the skateboarding in this regard, I am going to ignore the politics" for example I am working on documents about Truck companies, if I leave off Independent because of their politcal views etc. would be a bit strange. or if I am talking about the biggest tricks ever done, I am going to include Chris Cole if he had one in there, but I am not saying by including him that I condone any of the garbage he has taken part in in his personal life.

this is NOT what the 9 club is about though, they DO cover people's personal lives etc. so I dont know that you can really use that defense in their case...

I HOPE this is what Roger actually means and is just a poor communicator, and that deep down he doesnt actually hate someone because they are different...  I can appreciate to some degree that skateboarding can be a good place where you can ignore politics and just focus on the skating so you can get AWAY from that type of stuff that is driving you crazy irl. But as a community I think it is important to put shitty people on blast so that we will continue to grow and better ourselves. Especially when you have a platform like the 9 club.

I can understand that they have such a giant platform and they are probably nervous to say the wrong thing especailly when it comes to a serious accusation. I am assuming thier thought process is "well what if they were innocent and I have just blown them up to millions of people"

I think they should have been way more empathetic in the situation... like "hey guys we acknowledge some very serious accusations are going on right now. This is outside the scope of the show because we dont want to say the wrong thing and blow up someone mistakenly before a court of justice has made this decision... we just want to focus on the skateboarding and we were not aware of these acusations the times we had this guest on the show".
