I HOPE this is what Roger actually means and is just a poor communicator, and that deep down he doesnt actually hate someone because they are different...
this is some "it was a Roman salute" "he was just sending his heart out" level of hoping

Always funny when someone publicly asks for empathy by airing out their personal life, then turns around and claims a whole group of people aren't worthy of empathy. Who are the cyberbullies here? An abused ex-wife of a washed-up pro and her abused adult son? What about the facts of the situation are you disputing? Pretty garden variety Gen X edgelord takes here. Typical, but disappointing.

Roger isn’t gay, he’s just awkward and fruity in love with Mikey Taylor

Roger on Mikey Taylor confirmed.
Hopefully not a kook, but if so, fuck it.

If you can’t come through a life of mental health struggles with a perspective of empathy for others pain, you’re a psycho.

Ultimately, I don't think any human really can maintain their mental health when so much of it is lived in public.

I read the interview and I'm having a hard time mapping it to the conversation on here. If I just followed this thread I'd think he said some super inappropriate and specific things. But I don't see that in the interview. He makes general statements about trying to separate politics (or even personal actions) and skateboarding, and fine you have a different opinion than him on that, but the comments here seem to be responding to things that are not in that interview. What am I missing?

Imagine feeling no shame in claiming you invented the shoelace belt?

Have you ever listened to Mark Appleyard talk for a sustained period of time?
Just to be very clear- I love his skating and have always enjoyed him in interviews and videos etc; he's great value.

But just listen to him, his brain is permanent coast mode. I don't even think he still smokes weed so I'm not gonna call him fried, but he fucking cracks me up with him being so surprised at some of his tricks and rewinding and it not coming across as self centred or just motivated by self props. Also "Fakie tre.....casual" said so casually. He seems so laid back and is fairly pleased with his accomplishments [RIGHTLY SO] and it's pretty entertaining watching him revisit them.
I guess my point is that he strikes me as exactly the type of person who has convinced himself that he did it first, the big loveable oaf.

Other highlights:
"That is a young man.... fucking doing it right there that is young man...getting some right there. I was good as fuck".

"Back three ahhhh! that is the cleanest one I'mm I mean I've done some clean ones but that shit wasclean mmI was prety hyped on that..I had a fucking funny ass hat on".

"And Chris is like, “Dude, I don’t know, what about the allegations and all the other stuff.” I’m like, “Who fucking cares?"

I mean this quote in particular is referring to 'allegations', that's not a difference of politics. The allegations we continually see come up against famous skaters are things like abuse, sexual assault, etc. An allegation is definitively an accusation of something illegal or wrong. Now obviously this is a general sentiment and not talking about something specific but you're smart enough to read between the lines here.

People are upset by his social media reposts

Because of those reposts, we're unable to assume he spoke with the best intentions when claiming he wants to give a platform for people regardless of their personal matters. He's made his own personal beliefs public (which as it turns out are hateful and regressive), and he cannot be part of a neutral platform.

From the few nine clubs I watched back in the day he was the most annoying one to me. It always seemed like he was trying to butt in and interject something for cool points — esp if it was an east coast person

I feel the same as you on this. The interview yes was maybe a little boring but he just said he quit drinking and then told about how his gf made him see all these guru people. the anti trans stuff on twitter is super lame but I think rog isnt that bad, he loves skatebording a whole lot

Some of us were considering Roger to be the only one bringing knowledge to this lazy podcast.
Funny/sad how trying to be real in this interview makes him the worst of the crew by far.

The others are still kinda useless but somewhat harmless.

Roger, you might think skateboarding (the world even) is going in the wrong direction but you'll need to find other incels to back and work on your database project.

I forget but wasn't Rog the most vocal against SLAP forums ? I know everyone on that show hates this place too

unless they are mining our stylin' on you threads for content
