You know what’s kinda scary in all this?
That Crob, despite how spineless he often comes across, seems to have more of a moral compass than Rog…

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

Does anyone think he’s talking about no one, not Joa?
[close]

Yes. I thought it seemed pretty obvious.
[close]

I just read the interview and was blanking on who he was referencing. Joa initially seems more likely, but after him wanting to ignore allegations for the sake of,”He just had an insane part” or whatever he said, it definitely is no one.

I called in on the show once years ago just cause, and no one was part of the topic, and he really seemed like he didn’t like no one.

That way of thinking he has is so fucked up. I hope everyone else on the show is checking him so they don’t give shitty people a platform. Sounds like they are.

The whole problem with the Nine Club is they want to keep the show surface level and just skateboarding. Their platform is too big and they have a responsibility now to be conscience about who they have on and how they present themselves. I think Roger is just stuck in an old head mentality.

Makes me wonder why Steezus ain’t on the show anymore. He would bring up and talk about important social issues, and I would speculate that’s why he just disappeared from the show.

Again, I don’t know shit though. Such a bummer that the show has become what it is now. Was such a fan for years.
There might be some toes he stepped on.

Part of me feels bad for rog. it seems he's let his delusions get the better of him. A lot of his political alignments are typical for the terminally online. He seems to be swatting at shadows; mad at people for no reason. A lot of this reads with a pretty strong sense of apathy. Hopefully he gets his perspective straightened out and moves away from the internet/spotlight as much as possible.

A lot of his issues come down to confidence. A lot of the criticism of the nine club comes down to their spinelessness and generally milquetoast quality. If he had confidence in his ideas he wouldn't be worried about "the trolls winning" or whatever he asks himself after setting up another fake scenario to worry about in the nine club editing bay. They've handled situations poorly in the past because they were indecisive and spineless and this shows in rogers general demeanor, and obviously pent up frustration, which he directs at his detractors through humiliating himself.

My thing with this angle is that we’re not talking about some troubled kid trying to find their way. We’re talking about a 50 year old man with a platform that largely caters to young people.

His traumas and issues are all valid but at a certain point it’s on you to do the work and grow up a little. It’s actually extremely easy to not be a shithead and it’s exhausting to waste so much benefit of the doubt on grown ass men like him.
[close]

Very well said

That's a good point. I guess his case makes me sad because I feel like I see a lot of people fall into this sad, lonely yet hypersocialized path, and I wish it wasn't like this.

As a 50 year old he should know better, but he's obviously pretty fried.

The shit that frustrates me the most is the toys out the pram style whining about public opinion. He is entitled to his freedom of speech and if he doesn't want to deal with the social ramifications of platforming people with serious accusations, he shouldn't do it; he choses to deal with his predicament by whining about it in a backhanded, sniveling sort of way. very poor taste

It's kind of pathetic for a 50 year old honestly. I think that's why it makes me sad.

There might be some toes he stepped on.

Steezus was not fired, in his own words he was laid off. Creative differences. He thought the Nine Club had the ability to expand into a network of channels - gaming, food, fashion, music, etc. But the people that created the show wanted to keep it to skateboarding. He claims there are no hard feelings but I am skeptical as he no longer follows anything Nine Club related on IG except for Jeron and Eldy.

How do I know all this well I am the resident Steezus expert and I encourage you to follow his latest endeavors in my blog here https://www.slapmagazine.com/index.php?topic=131832.0

Well, I’ll say this much for Steezus (and I’m borrowing his own words here,) he has really has been “withholding the composure to battle through unfavorable situations…”
Who’d have thought that the goofiest member of the squad would come out smelling the sweetest by getting cut from the team before Roger torched the franchise into a pile of rubble & ash.
What a wild time to be alive. 😉

The funny thing about that is that they did the gaming route with him and Mike Mo with that corny ass “3 dudes 1 game” and it was so bad it would go low view counts. Steezus is a weird one because he has equated his success over the years almost like he did it on his own but really he just hopped on already successful platforms and just became relevant from association. So it’s funny to me that he feels he has so much say on things he never really created or put together.

I will give it to him for gaining a little clout on his own on Tik Tok but that was short lived. Him trying a pitch a show idea without having any kind of experience in that field was pretty embarrassing. It’s sad in the sense that perceived clout has made these “social media personality” types feel like they are so important and needed that they think they’re too good to get a regular job like everyone else. Seeing that he’s off to a slow start in YouTube world and was dropped from his agency, I think it’s only a matter of time before he’s gonna have to bite the bullet and just get a job.

I can’t think of an industry kook that starts with I but. They form like Voltron around a case of 40s at the plan F ranch compound and try to make lemonade for ungrateful little warbastards screaming for GRAPE STUFF!!!

I prolly won’t see the interview for a a while.
I can’t turn on the youtube at all lately. So much bad news. I’m just waiting for the other shoe drop.

I agree with the general sentiment here, this interview did no favors for Rog.

The GH response defending Chase Webb because,  “Nyjah and David Loy were involved and got away with it, Chase didn’t do much for ten years so it was okay I featured him” is laughably inconsistent with everything else he said.

Nine club selling product online and bagging on local shops making gear is also laughably inconsistent.

Nah too bubbly, wal mart would be a better fit.
In truth, I only suggested TJ’s on account of his Tik Tok had him in there pert near er’day shopping like it was some spectacle for his followers to behold so I figured he’s got the ins & outs of his local aisles dialed & could step to shelf restocking in a heartbeat, but sure… Walmart works w/ his charming demeanor; why not?

Rog is the best person on that show!
Chris is a geek ( in a bad way)
Jeron would rather be somewhere else
Kelly (love his skating) is an airhead

He keeps it real and brings up actually interesting topics/ touches on subjects that others shy away from.
That raiders of the archives stuff he drops is super fire flames my guy.

he was a washed up bigot…

He had Vaynerchuk on the nice club and didn't want to address the biggest scandal in skating of 2024.
(Chris Cole knocking lumps out of his Mrs, in fact he'd prefer people just focused on the skating, not the skater.)

This doesn't qualify as keeping it real, bringing up interesting topics or touching on subjects others shy away from.

As if we haven't all done that. Not on air, granted, but lets focus on the real issue, which is Roger being a torched cunt.

I have an opportunity to email Roger directly. I asked him about working on the Save Skateboarding project because I am really interested in that, and I sent him the spreadsheet I made about trucks. He wrote me back and gave me his email address and said he was stoked on it. Then I saw the interview + thread, and I got a bit bummed and have felt really conflicted the past few days.

I don't really believe in tearing people down anymore at this point in my life. is there anything helpful that I could say to him?
They have given some shitty people platforms and shown a major lack of empathy on sensitive topics is what seems to be what is bumming a lot of us out. I think everyone wants to like the 9 club from a fan perspective and wants them to succeed... and does not wish bad things on those people... I am not very good at navigating these kind of things :(

its not like roger needs saving, hes just a grumpy dude with shitty opinions. he could vanish to a secret island for the rest of his days and the skateboard world would be totally fine without him. its easy to add importance to things sometimes but lets be real here.
