Snow days. Being off work is nice but I’m not looking forward to the cabin fever if it lasts more than a few days.
Also, starting to walk and move around better after all of the hip injuries and leg length discrepancy but I know it’s still not enough to get back to skating.  :-\

Cat spent two days in the hospital with a urinary tract blockage. It cost so much frickin money. And they shaved a part of his tail and his legs and his butt, so he is bare for the next couple months and I get to see it. And he got diagnosed with a stress disorder.

He is alive and well enough though. Drugged and sluggish, but peeing and pooping and more snuggly than ever.

Not stoked that two years of saving just *WOOSH* gone. Nor that he was in pain at all and alone for parts of his stay (I mean there was hospital staff but they’re strangers and they poke and prod).

Stoked that he’s home and on a new food that will help keep him healthy. He’s been scarfing it down.

Grateful to be back at work but god damn I fucking hate most construction workers. Might get laid off 3 days in. We'll see

Riddle me this as someone that works in construction - do you hate the trades or engineers more?

Carpenters hate + secretly want to make out with plumbers.
Plumbers hate + secretly want to make out with electricians.
Electricians hate + secretly want to make out with engineers.
Engineers hate + secretly want to make out with architects.
Architects hate + secretly want to make out with developers.

Developers are just fucking everyone.

officially unemployed for 5 months. blown through like $50k in savings (aka all of it). applied for hundreds of jobs. but i think im starting to enjoy it lol.

edit: i guess ill also toss it out there - if anyone works at a business that is hiring for a remote position, im down to take as low as 70k and can fill any role your company needs. i worked at a skateshop for almost a decade then a digital advertising agency for the last decade. i have done basically any role inside and out of the business and at this point im down for whatever even if its a pivot from my career experience.

My Meta Raybans are amazing. Giving Zuckerfuck ducats isn’t cool though. Arguing the utility of said glasses against luddites on Reddit is wack too. It’s like, you’re using tech by virtue of being on social media but you’re afraid of a guy with cameras in his glasses? Why the fuck would I want to film you anyway? That’s not how most users use it. I’m trying to listen to books and post skate clips to the gram. Also camera proliferation is a tool for the people as much as it is for the state. Thank Jebus we got all those angles on the murder of Renee Nicole Good. At least we got a chance in court to put away that nazi savage. I 100% get privacy concerns, but people are bugging on how much they think the world cares about their photos. Everybody’s identity has been compromised since the turn of the millennium. AND I physically have to turn on the camera to be recording anyway. I guess I could put stickers on the lights that indicate recording but I’m no creep. Unless there’s a chance to pirate media…Whatever, suck it haters! I’m coming for your private life.
What a dork. No wonder you can't get laid

I slipped on black ice while walking home from the gym, and hit my head. The whole thing happened in a fraction of a second, so I didn’t have time to cover my head with my hands. The Gore Tex One Stars have terrible tread. I’m only going to use them for light rain. Time to find boots with better tread, since the outsole of the Merrell boots I have are meant for mud.

It only hurt for a couple seconds, so I didn’t have to go to the ER. No blood or cuts. My earbuds landed in snow but still work.

I'm in sort of a weird situation with my job.

I've been with the company for a while now, and I've learned a lot in my role. I worked up from a base-level support guy to now handling all the client training, onboarding, and higher level support questions. I also enjoy a great deal of flexibility since I work remote, and I'd say I have a very ideal work-life balance for myself right now.

The "not stoked" part is for the last few months, I've been severely unmotivated and just bored as fuck at my desk most days. The work is no longer challenging or rewarding, and I find myself going through the motions more and more each day. I'm not sure if the benefits above are worth dealing with chronic ennui, but I'm also kind of resistant to changing the current situation. Am I locking myself in "golden handcuffs" and stifling my growth because of it?

This might sound like kind of a made-up problem, but it's been eating away at me for the last few months and I'm just not sure what to do.

Had my meeting with HR and they are going to fire me. I'm glad it's finally over to be honest. Sure I wish I was able to go out on my own terms but beggars can't be choosers. Good thing is my union rep is going to try to get me a neutral recommendation, paid leave and for them not to contest unemployment.

Stoked the kids are taking to the streets.

Not stoked that the news sneakily describes it as "dozens" of students.
You can see less than half of the group in that screenshot.
"Dozens" is a sketchy way to downplay the size of the group.

I got to Skate a few minutes today. It’s been quite some time due to snow. I was buying groceries and the yellow curb outside grinds pretty nice. All my go tos are with me still.

Some guy was watching me asked me what I thought about Tony Hawk being mentioned on the list.
I said I believe victims. They got kinda bent by that and walked off grumbling some shit.

Guess they thought I was some kinda jock or some shit. Not stoked it’s kinda fucked up my head the rest of the day.

Tomorrow I have a few hours to myself. I’m gonna practice switch flips and backside flips as these are my problem areas after all this sitting around. I’m gonna find a spot where no one can bother me while I am

My ex girlfriend finally moved out and we’re on good terms as friends which is very nice. It’s even nicer to have my space back and it’s not so cluttered and messy with her stuff like it used to be. I feel so free now very stoked.

Woke up at 5am to sound of mouse screaming under my stove, I forgot my super set out a few of those wooden snap traps underneath there. Didn’t kill mouse, just trapped him by shoulder but there was blood, he looked so cute and scared. Really sad about it but I killed him by putting in trash bag then blunt force and tossed the body, glad he’s gone cuz I have a puppy and mice j bring diseases n bad stuff. RIP lil G

Those and glue traps suck. When I had a mice problem, I got those box traps, where the rodents can go into but can’t get out. I put a cube of mild cheddar in each one. Then, I would drive about a mile away and release them into a field.

This is what I used to use, but they were grey and maybe a different brand:

This looks better and more efficient, but some reviews said that the mice can chew through the plastic:

These traps work. I caught two mice in one once. Drove them to my old work office to release them. Hope they found a cozy place to settle there.

Only if you also give up switch tres for mobbed kickflips. Hope your luck turns around soon!

Not stoked: caught food poisoning. Stoked: wasn't as bad as the last time. It's all about expectations.

Synchrony closed my Sweetwater card a couple months ago and now did the same to my Musician’s Friend card. I was making the monthly minimum payments, without having to pay interest, and never missed a payment. For some reason, I was flagged as a risk. There’s a probably 5k of debt cumulatively for both cards, but now my debt surpasses the amount of unused credit I have, since I’m missing 8k in credit limit. It was a bit stressful for me initially, but I’m still about 4-5 years away from being able to buy a house, if the economy doesn’t collapse by then.

Now, I can focus on playing guitar, piano, and making beats, instead of wasting time looking at the latest gear. The same thing applies to skateboarding. I need to just decide on what parts I like best and stop buying/trying new shit every other week, so I have more time to skate. It’s been months since I learned a new trick or new chords.

I got a job offer to be a site coordinator for a boys and girls club center. Couple problems though. The pay is lower than what I was doing before but it's more hours. Also they require a drug test and I took an edible yesterday. So if anyone has any tips to get the THC out of my system it would be greatly appreciated.
