Did they ever actually say midnight though?
That article that was posted to confirm that the PS3 people have to wait just said they confirmed it'd be up tomorrow morning. Who knows when this shit's going to be on there.

Where? The press releases for the contests and stuff just said to download it between 12:01pst and some other time, nothing seems to have said definitively that it'd be there at midnight.

initial impressions: very bummed

graphics are worse by alot, animations are worse by alot, physics are worse by alot

front blunt looked really bad when i did it, skateboard looks like lego

also landings are alot like tony hawks project 8. like gorilla status.

edit: at guy below me, i was ollieing twice as high. like way too fucking high off everything, its so clunky especially on ledges and rails and much less realistic. also i was popping onto rails and tapping y twice, makes him throw the board away then boomerang it back into his hand in the air it looks rediculous and doesnt even show up at the end of challenges.

me and my friends got a really good laugh out of how shitty the game mechanics are compared to skate 2 and all the bugged stuff you can do followed by a sombre smoke and slow realization that the og skate is gonna be the one we wind up playing still.

I think that when you get used to it the physics will be better than the first one - i think it just seems worse because its more realistic - eg cant ollie as high. I do agree that the animations aren't as good though - It seems a lot less smooth even though I seem to remember them saying it was going to run at 60fps

Albatross, spend more time with it and you'll come to like it. I agree that the changes to the physics are a little shoddy but at least it runs nice and smooth. Plus you can actually make some pretty sick setups moving the objects around, and the video editor is much better. Also, if you haven't yet, play around with the button combo to make yourself bail. click both sticks and hold both triggers, it's pretty fun to try to make him bail really hard realistically.

it's only like 5 minutes but you keep doing challenges to add time to the clock. i haven't done a no comply yet because i was too stoked on doing crailslides around the corner of the bowl..and i only had 20 minutes to play this morning.
every trick looks better in it too.

new tricks are fun and they're all there. no complys are done by pushing the ollieing right when you're foot hits the ground. game looks sick at 60fps too.

for the timer i suggest doing the challenges/tutorials up to the manual one. you can rack up to around 8mins by then if you just breeze through it. the challenges after that pretty much take as much time to do them as they give you IMO.

Seems like they are pushing it back the the 23rd instead of the 21st as well. Damn them.

And as far as being in the 'uncanny valley', i dont think its quite there yet, yes the models are detailed and appear fairly lifelike but the artistic direction and colors keep it more cartoon-ish then realistic. If you want uncanny valley check out a game called Heavy Rain

yea you can, BUT i think when you play skate 1 it tries to log onto EA nation and that pauses your download. if anything, your download just goes on pause. but i think you just have to log off of EA nation and it'll resume automatically. at least that's what i remember from downloading other demos while i played.

and you can also check active downloads by hitting the xbox button and go to the menu on the left to make sure it is still going.

I told myself I wouldn't stay up late last night to download the demo. I ended up going to bed on the bad side of 4am. Initial reactions are that this game is going to be amazing. The new camera system will definetly take the frustration out of putting together a decent looking clip...and hats don't sit a foot above your head.
