Anyway...
Still nobody showing me how awesome they are...
Come one guys !! Show me what YOU can do on a skateboard... Prove me that you are not what I think you are... (Posers who can barely ollie and who are all hardcore 20 steps kickflippers on the internet  ::) )
So??? I'm waiting...
I'll have a lot more respect to a dude who can actually skate... but that's the thing... I'm sure there are not onlty posers on this website but the majority is... And posers=haters...
So if one of you hater could show me what he can do I'll a little bit of consideration... For now what I see is people with LOTS of posts who seem to spend a lot more time in front of their computer than on their board...

Check out this thread; http://www.slapmagazine.com/Mambo/forum/index.php?topic=328.510 - it's an 18 pager of people posting their own footage on here; noteworthy for people's (generally) humble attitudes and being nice about each-others footy

(it's not about people saying they are awesome, more people going "ok, this is pretty bad, but here's some footy of me")

I actually come here because the majority of posters are genuine skaters, and not the typical TWS style geeks who focus on their appearence and yes do indeed give us all a bad name by indeed "trying 30 times to ollie 3 steps or trying to launch whatever trick they have never been able to do and saying "FUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKK" at their board..."

And some people are defensive on here, because this is something we love. We're contending with people selling us out to the X-Games, generating a new breed of competitive skater which is nothing to do with who we are or what we do, with a false image of what we do being blasted on MTV and a million commercials, with people thinking that rising a skateboard is all about bling and props - so of course people get a bit defensive generally about things; probably much in the same way that genuine longboarders would get hacked off if "the mainstream" suddenly decided to use a million images of dreadlocked flip-flop wearing geeks on longboards to sell their shit - the purists amongst you would probably start feeling a bit militant too.

Hope this gives a little context to things, and where some people - whether misguided or not - are coming from on here. Sure some people on here are idiots, but they stand out as such; it's not as if everyone on here gives a baying chorus of approval to the dumber comments

Great thank !!
Spent some times watching some of this...
Props to lots of guys on this topic with LOTS of skills :) (Grimcity for exemple)
But... I didnt find so much haters from this topic on this one there...
I want to see a vid made by MFS or people with very smart nicknames like "dem hoes squawkin levitra" or "tango $$ tha pussy viol8r"  ::)

But glad to read someone who doesnt have to use the word "gay" or "kook" in each of his sentence.
When I described the typical stupid shortboarder with no brain who keep on trying an impossible trick he never has and never will land but pretend the opposite, I perfectly know longboarders have their dad's son on campus WALKING around with their board under their arms telling "yeeeaah man" when you come cruising by them...
Just dont fall into the stereotype like I did (on purpose) to try to say my point of view...

Longboarding is composed of MANY different disciplines and that's what I like about all that... I like to go fast, you like to do tricks but what we have under our feet is fucking skateboard damn it !! So let's fucking hold hands and skate together lol...
I'd be glad to have a trick skater teach me some stuff and I'm always here to teach DH to people willing to try...

And on another note, I'd like to go back to an older post by chalmchalms... (on page 3)
I live in Seattle and I go to Van very often to skate all these hills...
I'd love to really show you what we do... You'll surely find it very differnt from what you are talking about... ridiing down Cypress or Seymour at 60/65 + mph is not delivering news paper around the british properties on a board... Wearing a helmet is necessary... a leather, well... not really, but it's more aero :D
Doing it on hard wheels and sliding all the way down BPs is fun but different... ;)

I hope we can meet someday and skate over there!! You'd be surprised by the level of trick skateboarding some of the best DHers in the world have ;)

It's the worst when a longboarder tries to relate to normal skate issues. Night and day buddy. I ride a board to feel it not to be able to do carves on soft wheels. NOT THE SAME. IT RELATES TO SURFING MORE THAN IT DOES TO SKATING.

Stop fighting it... you're a surfer by heart so go surf. Skating a normal board takes incredible skills. Skating a longboard can be done by anyone who can stand up.

As I said, I definitly admit doing tricks on a boards takes lots of skills, lots of practice and is extremely hard (a LONG time ago, I was able to ollie, and I kickflipped a few time too ;D ).
Now going down a 15% hill with 10 switchbacks at the MAXIMUM speed it can be done with 3 other guys on your side with their wheels at 15cm or less from yours is hard and you wont be able to do it in 3 months... But yes, doing a 540 hardflip on the top of a ramp is harder... but who can do that???? Very few people...

That is the other thing with trick skating, It is probably one of the hardest sport ever but how many people are really good? How many people are really talented? Lots of people who criticize longboarding saying how lame it is are not the ones who are supposed to say that since their level in tricks can be achieved in 3 months... They've just been skating for 2 years or more and are not able to progress... But they think they belong to this family of riders with skills and they thing they can talk...

Also too go back on the surfng thing... In what is my avatar a straight up surf looking stance?? I dont really get this one... ???
Do you often see surfers of their board in this position????

Didnt really wanted to but well... Let me know what "surf-like" this is...

Ok go and start the flamming now !!  ;D

Just dont forget that the "armor" only prtects you from road rash on the road... When you hit something, it's not 5mm of leathers that will protect you from anything  ;D
Racing down a hill with a few friends is an awesome feeling that you've never experienced (and yes I have been dow hills "fast" on short boards with hard wheels).
Just try... We have lots of very skilled trick skateboarders up in Vancouver that cant get enough of it  ;)

I was kidding, but the goal is the same... And please.. dont be homophobic, full of stereotypes like that...
FYI, after almost 5 years of intensive DH, there are still a few roads (not many though) I havent beaten without crashing and some guys I havent been able to beat yet...

A nollie flip?? I'd love to be able to do one... But doing the same thing over and over again at the same place is not my thing... So no...

who was being homophobic? and in case you didnt know anything about trick boarding, a nollie flip is versatile i can do it down something, across something, on something, do one into another trick. so thats not same place, but ill be damned if doing it over and over again isnt fun as hell each time

you never enjoyed it because it was too hard for you. and the leotard reference was to figure skating which you attempted to compare "trick" skateboarding to. and jeezy cant show any photos for fear of losing his secret identity. maybe when later when jeezy reveals himself, no pun intended

longboarding is fun if your stoned and too lazy to acually skate, but other than that it gets boring really fast
