My obsessive tendencies would never let me skate anything besides blank grip, but hats off for all the cool pieces in this thread. This shit is cool.

light coats are best but ive definitely overpainted grip in the past and it's never had a discernible effect for me.

A bunch of old and current setups. Most of them started out pretty much blank and fell victim to my doodle frenzy over time...

It's like skating. Keep at it and don't be too critical of yourself if you don't happen to create a masterpiece right away and you'll get better and better. It's fun as hell IMO and with grip art at least for me it's kind of an easy medium as it's temporary anyway so I don't have to care too much about it.  :)

Exactly what I think.
I would also not necessarily define this as art, it is just wat happens to my boards after a while.
I just have markers on me, hoard weird pictures and stuff I like and, just in case keep scraps of old grip.

can someone explain to me the influx lately of people putting a line going all the way down from nose to tail? usually it’s in the middle, I see Austin Gillette do it a lot. is there a function for this? or is it purely aesthetic?
This has me cracking up, what exactly does Black Flag have to do with measuring your dick starting behind ya nuts?

Skateboarding is nothing but a game to find the right fits to appear like you're a proportional human being instead of a midget or a giant.

wide boards where the grip isn’t big enough edge to edge?

naw, like, where someone literally has a line going all the way down the middle of the board vertically, so the line is sitting in between the four bolts.

I don’t know. Got that deck from a friend, the black grip was already like that.
It bothered me, so I sprayed it black and patched it with clear scraps sins e it was the only grip I had around...

I've found stencils to work best when doing grip art, also paint pens are rad but like someone else has said too much will fuck you up and disappoint you.

Too much art and it looks like dogshit or gum on your grip that's why I either go for stencils and cutouts with a sticker underneath.

So how do you go about throwing pictures on?
Glue and clear grip over the top?

I have so many cut outs that are intended for collages so i'm keen to get crafty.

Jump, just like that. Spray glue works best but anything works.
