Is there a big difference in the regular gatos vs the skate gatos? I think you can find the soccer ones for around $50-75 but the skate ones on nikes site are posted at $120. I don't care how good a shoe is, $120 is way too much for fucking shoes.

skatewarehouse has them from 90. still high but 30 cheaper than nike site
[close]

$90 is box price, don't know why nike sells them for $120.

edit: $90 links.

Skating these:

The adi-ease is my perfect shoe. I have a really narrow foot so it suits me. This is the recent Pete Eldridge colorway and the waxed suede lasts a lot longer than the normal suede.

I was home when they came out and I think anonymous might have them for $90, call first and find out though. And I know Galaxie doesn't carry Nike, they WERE a don't do it shop until they just recently picked up an adidas account. Where you from in Cincinnati?

price aside, does anyone know what the difference is between the soccer gatos and the skate gatos? im assuming theyre a tad bit thicker and probably have a better insole. i searched amazon for the soccer ones and they range from $45-65. im just curious if the skate version is really worth the extra price, or is nike just throwing a slightly beefed up version of their soccer shoe in their skate line and slapping an extra $30 on the price because skate shoes modeled after soccer shoes will be (or already are) trendy and people will pay whatever price nike puts on the box.

and the only reason i care is because i recently bought a pair of indoor shoes and i think they would be a perfect skate shoe with a few minor adjustments. ^ these are the ones i have. the lace system is perfect because the laces are positioned toward the inside of your foot instead of going straight down. im sure they can still rip, but not nearly as fast as laces on a normal shoe. the soles are good and grippy, but super flexible so they provide great board feel. these are also some of the lightest shoes ive ever had. the leather is pretty soft, so i can see it ripping and falling apart fast if you did a lot of flip tricks. make it in suede and maybe double stitch it and you would be fine. as far as impact goes, im assuming it doesnt take much. ive only fucked around in these shoes and havent really skated them hard, but knowing theyre not made for skating im assuming they dont take high impact too well. all you would need is a good insole though. if nike made this in a skate version, id buy a pair for sure, but considering i paid $50 for these and theyre pretty damn good at that price i dont know if id spend and extra $40 for a slightly better product. mark it at $70 and i think they would sell like crazy.

if they sell a glorified slipper, boat shoe rip off for $80, you best believe they wouldn't charge $70 for an updated, supportive, long-lasting, suede soccer/skate shoe hybrid. don't ever disrespect nike like that again..

The main difference between the SB gatos & regular ones is the sole. The SB ones have the Lunarlon while I heard the soccer ones have really hard soles. I'm surprised nikes selling them for $120 in their site, I've seen them at $90 everywhere else

The outsole is grippier, it's not lunarlon, that's the midsole (which is the same in the soccer version.)

Yeah it does but they break in pretty quick and it's definitely worth it for the increased durability.

Yeah.  Cab Lite.  I had a pair.  Really grippy and light.  The shape of the toe was divine and so was the comfort.  Didn't last as long as I would have liked though...

Also one of the least durable shoes I've ever had. pretty big ollie hole after the very first day of skating and a hole in the bottom of the shoe after wearing it a little over a week. very comfortable though and good boardfeel.

Westgate's heretics ... I can't remember the last time I've been that stocked on a new pair of shoes !

Comfort of a cupsole with the boardfeel of a vulc. I'm riding on a soggy sheet of jessup and it felt grippy like if I was riding on a fresh sheet.  I can't wait to fully break them in.

I'm sorry but what do you do to get a hole in the sole in a week? Is that even possible? I shuffle my feet around way too much when setting up for tricks but never have I managed to go through the sole in a week, not even close. I don't think that would happen even if I skated 12 hours a day, every day.

I have no idea really. I did skate for like at least 5 hours every day and I rarely take breaks for more than drinking some water, but I've never had that issue unless I've skated the shoes for a couple months straight. Maybe it was just an off quality shoe and the hole probably appeared after closer to two weeks of skating 1 1/2 maybe, but still I thought it was really shitty.

I've had some other Adidas shoes and the quality was really good, so I guess I just got a shit pair or something

I had a pair where I shoe-gooed the ollie area and they lasted me over 30 hours easily. I had no problems with the grip at all, except that it went bald quite quickly but even then it stayed bold for ages before any hole began. I guess it just comes down to how you skate.

Honestly though, no shoes has skated better than these, and this is coming fron someone whose skated loads of OG Busenitz.

how's the toecap? it felt rock solid

The toecaps are fuckin' rock solid... I don't know if that's a good thing but I bought them yesterday so hopefully they'll be fully broken in soon because it's already getting cold outside ...
