Tried these on in the shop the other day, had to get them. Wore them out for the first time tonight, just dinner and walking around Target. Probably never buying a different shoe based on that alone.

Those look sick. Based on your pic, they defiantly don't look to be very bulky to me. I like the look of these and the project BA's, but the upper part of the Westgate shoe looks slimmer than the BA's yes/no?

There's nothing bulky about the shoe. It's super light, but feels solid. To answer your question, it's slimmer as it seems like there's less material, but the BA was tight(narrow) in the arch area and seemed like it would need time to break in(for me) where these seemed perfect from the get.

Has anyone tried both the new Leo Laced and the Lakai Camby?
[close]

funny enough, the camby was my shoe before the laced. it felt a little thicker than the romero, but in a good way. the romero seems to keep its shape better though. plus for the camby: they lasted forever (black suede/canvas version).

thanks! It basically came down to vulc vs cup so I'm going with the Earl Camby in all black canvas. I need some non-white soled shoes.

Shoes with that sole has a roomier fit, I wear a 9 in griffins/vincents but would go with 8.5 for cambys. I never had a pair though, but this was my impression when i tried them on

Please explain how this comes across as condescending, because i'd like to know how my words were able to make your butt hurt, so i can try to prevent an incident as this one in the near future, for your consideration.

Coped these for $19.99 today.

Second pair of these particular Chucks; a little thicker than the regular ones & they skate great.

It's been at least 10 years since I've had a gum soled shoe but these were looking mighty nice for the price.

So sick! But why make a shoe where you can do 1000 kickflips in without making a hole and 10 ollies and you have a hole?

^You guys are going to laugh and I begrudgingly feel like a bit of a douche admitting it, but I've been getting these at Famous Footwear; always on the cheap ( ~ $25).

Like I said, second pair of this model (the CTS (which I believe stands for Chuck Taylor Slip)) I've had & they skate great; a bit thicker in the overall material & in the ankle padding.

I skate them for a bit to identify where they are going to wear the most, apply a thin layer of hot glue & usually tamp it down with a piece of coinage; surprisingly this has proved an effective way to stave off perpetual wear.

Do most people here skate their shoes until they have holes in the soles?
[close]
I skate them until I can't skate without getting a hole in my sock. If its a rip I'll shoe goo it but if its a hole I'll break out a new pair. I always have reserves stashed away because I like to buy the shoes I've already tried once they go on sale and I'll buy two pairs and store them.
[close]

If a shoe works for me, I do the same. I look for them on sale and store a few. The longest period was about two years with the same shoe (not actually the same shoe, but the same model). I only switched because there were so many other good looking shoes I wanted to try.
As for now, I am hooked again. Let's see how long it will last.

I skate mine until they start breaking down. Like, feeling loose on your feet. You know that feeling where no matter how tight you tie them, they still feel loose?? Yeah, that.

Either that, or the bottoms go bald enough where my feet slip off my board.
