^You guys are going to laugh and I begrudgingly feel like a bit of a douche admitting it, but I've been getting these at Famous Footwear; always on the cheap ( ~ $25).

Like I said, second pair of this model (the CTS (which I believe stands for Chuck Taylor Slip)) I've had & they skate great; a bit thicker in the overall material & in the ankle padding.

I skate them for a bit to identify where they are going to wear the most, apply a thin layer of hot glue & usually tamp it down with a piece of coinage; surprisingly this has proved an effective way to stave off perpetual wear.
Those aren't the CTS at all.

Tried these on in the shop the other day, had to get them. Wore them out for the first time tonight, just dinner and walking around Target. Probably never buying a different shoe based on that alone.

Have you skated these yet?  If so, what do you think?

I skated in them and loved them. Perfect flick, perfect control. Laces break within an hour though

Thought the grip was going to be kind of weird on these, but actually not bad.  Just took some getting used to.

Do most people here skate their shoes until they have holes in the soles?
[close]
I skate them until I can't skate without getting a hole in my sock. If its a rip I'll shoe goo it but if its a hole I'll break out a new pair. I always have reserves stashed away because I like to buy the shoes I've already tried once they go on sale and I'll buy two pairs and store them.
[close]

If a shoe works for me, I do the same. I look for them on sale and store a few. The longest period was about two years with the same shoe (not actually the same shoe, but the same model). I only switched because there were so many other good looking shoes I wanted to try.
As for now, I am hooked again. Let's see how long it will last.
[close]

I skate mine until they start breaking down. Like, feeling loose on your feet. You know that feeling where no matter how tight you tie them, they still feel loose?? Yeah, that.

Either that, or the bottoms go bald enough where my feet slip off my board.

I skate mine until the sole gets all paper thin and bulges out where the pads of my feet are, mostly because im a fat cunt. Sometimes they have hole but if i wear them to work the thin out real quick, 15 hour shifts for ya.

Been skating thru this 90-100 degree weather out in AZ so you know what that means...strictly high-tops & shorts for the next few months! Prod 7 Hi's for the streets & the Lebron 11 x Terracotta Warriors for basketball & working out. would be interesting to see if Nike ever uses the same Lunarlon insole on steroids with no-midsole feature in a future skate shoe. you still got good feel for your feet & the ground but still have more than enough cushioning

Have either of you skated the Howard XLKs? I love them but mine are about to die and I'm contemplating getting a pair of these. They seem comparable.

I have skated both the Howard's and Mikey Taylor S, the toe cap feel is nearly identical. Just the Howard is longer. I have never ripped a lace in either shoe. If you want a longer lasting shoe.

Get the DC's. The super suede actually works and last for a while.

It truly does. The dcs are a perfect ratio of board feel to impact support. The super suede does last a long time too.

What he said. The Howards are a bit thinner and they wore out way faster. The Howards are good but The Taylor is the best shoe. Highly recommended.

The soles on these are awful. A slippery mess. Mine have been relegated to 'chill' status. I don't trust them to skate in even a little bit. I don't know why they're so different than every other Adidas vulc sole I've ever owned, but they are. Adidas ruined a perfect sneaker with that sole. They're also sized oddly, they run a little big.

On the plus side, the heel lock and ankle support is very good.

the Seeley is one of the only Adidas models i've never skated...mainly because yeah, they feel like garbage compared to the other models.

I just got done skating the lynx and it is such an amazing shoe but I like the mikey taylor more. The lynx is a good thick cupsole with not too much board feel.

The Lynx feel better than the Mikey Taylor shoe, I felt that the Mikey Taylor shoe was too low for me and it hurt my ankle a little.

The Lynx is perfect, broken it right out of the box. It is thicker cupsole for sure, but I like those kind of shoes.

I just tried them both on at a shop and I got the Taylor. This is my fourth pair. The Lynx felt sort of tighter and stiffer and I know the Taylor is next to perfect for me so I went with that.

They are nice, what are they called? That airwalk sole skates good if I remember correctly
