Picked these MJ's up yesterday. Lakai killed it again. Phenomenal shoe. I actually like them better than the last Marc. They are a much slimmer/closer fit and aren't as long in the toe. Aesthetically on point. I haven't done any serious skating in them yet - just kicked it around doing slappies and such - so nothing to report on durability but the sole is super tacky.

Someone else mentioned this in relation to the Vincent, but the 'new' Lakai vulc sole feels lighter to me. It's definitely lighter on these than my Marcs.

Skated the koston 1 for the first time yesterday and i got a heel bruise from skating flat. That's my first heelbruise since 10 years or so. If you take out the insole the sole is really thin. Anyone else with the same problem?

Thanks guys. Sports - the arch support is pretty common feeling. It's not a flat insole by any means, it's about standard. The sole itself is killer. It could be just my imagination but it feels like they've reduced the weight.

That is the point of the shoe, thinness of vulc without being a vulc. I'm sure tons of people get heel bruises skating flat, it's not the shoe, it's how you land.

I'm tossing up between the Marana or the Westgate as my next shoe purchase.

Has anyone here skated either of them? What's the boardfeel like?

both are pretty much indestructible. to me personally, the main difference is the toebox area (different behaviour on flip-tricks) and the fact that the Westgates look shitty with tight pants. but i liked them better.

i had the marana and i loved them, despite the fact they were blue (only color at my shop at the time), long lasting and comfortable

I've only had a chance to cruise around in my Westgates, but they're super grippy.  The board feel is pretty good. I'm sure when they break in, they'll be even better.  They're definitely one of the most comfortable shoes I've skated in a long time.

a friend of mine, who skates roughly 4 times a week, has been skating the westgates for 3 months now. its ridiculous.

Well considering Westgate has consistently been my favourite skater for like the past 3 years I'll probably just go with these. The rest of the colourways leave much to be desired.

I have been craving a blue shoe like mad though so when I saw these I became intrigued. I've also never owned any Etnies before so there was that too.

I have the suede black sabbath high tops and based off that I can tell you it's gonna be literally the same as the canvas in sizing, and basically the same in everything else.  Obviously less stretching on the suede and not as much ripping.

I'm not a huge fan of the grip cuz it's a bit slippery but that's just me (I like mob whereas some may like jessup more balanced grip).  The padding is super minimal everywhere on the upper cept the toe I guess, so if the board bumps your foot it's gonna hurt.  Oh, and I would consider size down by 1. like a normal chuck taylor

Didn't Fallen have a bunch of ads specifically about how they're going to change and improve their insoles?  Did that ever happen, or was it put on hold when the bottom fell out?

These Sutter Cromers are on their last leg... they were great shoes though. I lined the inside with duct tape once the holes got bad. I picked up some Adidas Gonz slip-ons in my size from some random skate shop in Orlando courtesy of a thread on here. They should be here today. I'm stoked to have a shoe which laces are not gonna be an issue for.

Im skating the Fallen 76s now. They are not bad, but the suede and the overal quality of shoes used to be a lot better. I remember having the first Rivals, back when they came out, and they were amazingly durable. I actually bought a pair of Chiefs out of nostalgy a couple months ago, and even though the model is old as fuck, and they are a little heavy, suede just feels much better than the suede on the 76s Im skating now.

One other Cons question to throw out there. If I wear an 8.5 in Vans and Huf would I be good with an 8 in Cons or would I have to go all the way down to 7.5?

It depends on the shoe, for me at least. I wear a 10 in Nike and Huf. Cons Star Players fit me best in a 9.5. Chucks fit me best in a 9.
