Thanks to Slap Pal Art Hellman for being in my ear about trying the Silas SLR. Really glad I took his recommendation. Outstanding shoe, Adidas and Silas killed it on this one. The fit is snug and close to the foot, the heel lock is outstanding, the sole has good grip. I know people were concerned about the heel, but if anything it's a super stable shoe. The mid sole is sort of wedged heel to toe - very similar to how Gatos feel - but not as extreme.

Can't really say too much about the durability just yet bc I only have about 10/12 hours on these but so far so good. I'm definitely psyched on them.

they really are awesome shoes.  I'd nominate them for best "new" shoe of 2014.  they lasted me 3 months of about 8 hours of skating a week.  It's a shame so many were caught up on the heel, especially when, yeah, it is actually a more stable shoe than some of the regular soled shoes.  My guess is the SLR wont be around much longer after the Silas ADV comes out, which is basically the same shoe just all tech'd out.  it's a bummer because for a $60 shoe it was great.

Found these chucks at a thrift store for 2 dollars. Washed em, threw on some fresh laces, n did the ol' ice n shoe goo patch on the ollie area. Two dollars well spent.

Been waiting on the Estabans but the only color I could find was red, and I found Koston 1's for 25 bucks so I ended up skating em today instead.

Otis - Where did you find the white leather Koston 1 Fragments for $25? Are you in the States? That's a STEAL. The cheapest I've found is still close to full boat at $90.

Got em at winners, which is like the Canadian equivalent of Marshall's. They were supposed to be 60 but I threw a sales tag on em and walked out with em for $25.

Need some Emerica sizing help...

Do the cupsole Romero Laced run the same size as the vulc? I wear a size 10 in everything, but I've had the Romero 2 and the Troubadour (both vulc), and both times I've had to size down to 9.5.

But someone told me Emerica cupsole are usually true to size.

The BA's I got ended up crushing my right big toe so I traded them off and picked up these DC Nyjah's for $40 on sale.  So far they have been alright for the price and look pretty good with jeans or chinos.  The sockliner and heel impact cushion are really cushy and although the front of the shoe is thinner than I normally run, the padding is still decent.  The vamp is still really stiff but other than that my only complaint is the logo angle and color contrast looks a little outlet mall.  Not bad.

since you like my work so much, perhaps you'd be willing to contribute to my kickstarter where I am hoping to raise $15K to develop my insta-photos at Walgreens and/or create a tumblr account where you can see my photos arranged in a different order
