^ I can relate. And then there come issues with stability and shoe deforms a lot.

Do you guys prefer to buy your shoes snug with little to no room at the toe, or do you prefer a thumb space of room up front?  I had the Adidas all star ADV and they felt pretty big to me, now I get the adi-ease and my toe goes right up to the end almost.  If I didn't just throw them on right away and go to a couple kickflips I would've returned them.  Lesson learned.  I usually buy Vans or Nike.

I like a little bit of room, but not a full thumb.  I like having a little room to slide forward or the shoe to bunch up some if I mess up instead of it going straight to the tips of my toes.

I did the thumb-width thing forever until I realized I did that because my mom did it when I was a kid, and she did that because my feet were still growing. No need to do that when your feet have been the same size for 20 years.

the perfect fit to me is when your longest toe is just barely hitting the toe. my toe went all the way in my cks when i bought them but now theres almost 1 cm of space. bags out allot.

My feet are weird, as my friends girlfriend calls them "Monkey feet" where the finger next to my toe is bigger than my big toe. I usually get shoes that are an inch from my big toe because they're half an inch from that toe

greek toes my man, pretty normal id say

Skated these 533's for about a month! Lot's of life left still.

No rips in the toe area after a ton of kickflips! Only con is the heel area, wish it was not mesh.

I get that it is for comfort with the padding there, but it rips so bad and all the foam sometimes comes off the whole heel area.

For me snug heel to toe right out of the box with great heel lock or it's a non-starter. If it's loose from the start, it's only going to get sloppier as I skate. I stress about any negative space in my shoes and that's mostly OCD. And I know this probably sounds even more OCD, but I like the last lace row to hit pretty high up on my instep bc it provides even more heel lock. The second part of your post is the challenge everyone seems to have with Adidas shoes from one model to the next. There doesn't seem to be any consistent model of sizing for their shoes.

I modded these Buz vulc yesterday. I like the overall snug fit of the shoe but the last lace row doesn't hit high enough (for my tastes) so I drilled in an extra eyelet now they fit perfectly on my foot and my heel is locked in even more.

same man, i always lace my shoes all the way up. shame the top eyelet is where i always rip my laces first. while heel lock is always good, its mostly in your head. i had the mjs and actually added eyelets further down the shoe as there were only 3 and i felt like they werent snug enough on my toes. i think i ended up with 7-8 holes. looked like a blazer in the end.

I just came across this pic on the net and wondered if any of you have ever skated your shoes this hard?

I once had Etnies Artos that lasted me perfectly fine and for so long, the upper didn't break, the shoe didn't become sloppy, panels held up perfectly and the leather wasn't wearing out any holes. But over the time the sole wear out and got very thin in the toe area because of extensive skating and eventually made a hole. I couldn't just throw them out because they looked perfectly fine like they had so much more potential for ollie and kickflip marks, I loved them, the look of them and felt so good skating besides that hole on my pushing feet. After still skating them to the point where the bottom of my big toe was basically directly exposed to pushing on a rough ground, throughout the city and a griptape. While there wasn't direct marks of wounds or blood, my big toe got very sore and felt as if I had cut it on a glass or something and the more I skated the less I could walk without limping afterwards. It was a sad day when I had to throw them away. Though it was a small hole that exposed part of my big toe compared to the hole in the sole in that pic.

the sole is a darker brown. older version of the waffle? whats it like compared to the new lighter one? the fit is horrible. i skated some ra and the had a shit ultracush sole. it was stiff and didnt have any type of gel or anything in the heel. this is an older vans shoe and the sole looks like this: the heel part is green but im guessing its the same? its also not as stiff. i hear people talking about some sort of gel, is this that gel?

No affiliation with NB#, but they do send me shoes. I just ask for the 533 model. I've been skating just the 533, skated one other model. I liked it, but not better than the 533.

Ask other users as well who have skated the shoe, they can attest obviously a great shoe. It's almost like skating a slimmer dunk low sb.

I skate all my shoes until they look like that. It used to be normal.

thanks! skated a mini ramp, a curb and some flat yesterday for about 2 hours and they're good. broke in right away and the upper is quite thick compared to most vulcs- the tongue is thick and long, the collar is padded (more padding in the tongue and collar than the previous griffin XLK i skated)  and i added the FP kingfoam insoles so they're working quite well.. Last vulcanized shoes i skated were in 2012

Some dude at the skatepark had these on and he said he skated them for like a month and they still looked good.

He said toe cap does it's job, looks like a great OG looking shoe. Reminds me of the Emerica Heretic.
