Don't do half cabs, they are actually worse for your ankles. The heel cup is really soft while the collar is a bit stiff, making it really easy for heel to slide out  while your ankle is still in place, especially with puffy tongue'd half cabs.

I can't do Half Cabs, they squish out and turn into slippers :\ never cared for how poofy they are. Might just go for the Smiths and cut them down if I have too.

Finally pulled the trigger on these TNT SG's (thanks again to the pals that gave me advice on the shoe). Not my preferred colourway but for over 50% off MSRP, I'm not complaining. Very excited for these to arrive!

I've ridden many a pair of TNTs (even if they do feel a bit big at my size, US10), currently have some SGs for chilling, wish I could skate'em but my feet swim in them too much.

Post a clip of you ollieing xen, I'm curious to see your technique and how you do them exactly to make that happen; I've never seen anyone thats had that problem with ollieing before ever.
I have a friend who learned how to ollie using only the side midsole area of his shoe, he would never get holes in the upper ollie areas ever. I remember one time he skated a pair of OG Authentics for like two months straight and no holes in the canvas ever formed, the midsole just wore out instead. He had pretty fat ollies too. I always thought the way he learned to do them was pretty unique. Makes me wish i had learned to ollie like that when I was first starting, my shoes would wear out a hell of a lot slower that's for sure.

I have a friend exactly like that. His uppers don't seem to be wearing down at all, compared to mine at least. I have no idea how he does it as his ollies don't look funky at all to me. I on the other hand have had the same problem as Xen occasionally. I remember especially this rather steep bank I tried to ollie off last summer and how my leg just got scratched up from all the tries. Other than that though, I think it hasn't been that big of a problem for me in a while anymore.

I started ollieing like this after my ankle got pretty bad. I'm always blowing out my top laces and I've even ollied halfway through the tongue on a pair of busenitz.

Ordered these last week and wore them for the first time today.

Going from vans vulc I was really impressed with how supportive they are.  I worked a 4 hour shift in them(on my feet the whole time) and skated after and my legs feel really fresh still.  Minimal break in time, decent grip(considering they're cupsoles), and not too bulky.  Huge thanks to 144p at 35th Ave for getting these to my door less than 2 days after I placed my order.  Would definitely recommend buying from them if you can't find what you need at your local shop.
All you got is today, get out and skate.

I used to get that wound when I was skating without socks in Puma Clydes. Stopped once I started wearing slightly puffier shoes and/or socks.

I also routinely blow out my laces at the topmost lace hole so I may have a weird ollie technique.

a pair of these (the old skools) that I've had on ice for a while:

I wanted to love these I really did but I just don't know if I can skate them. For one they have clear soles which is doing my head in. Syndicates were always higher quality and this was probs the first rapidweld vans that was released but I think I'll just keep them as chill shoes for the meantime.

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year

i skated a pair of dunks with clear soles, and they had no grip, and parts off the sole would just chip off.

Breaking in these Accel Slim Mids today, so far they're a solid shoe, although they could use tongue straps or an inner sleeve to keep the tongue centered. Padding & side panels are definitely pretty slim compared to the dunk mids I've been skating but I guess that's the point of the shoe. Ripped out that ortholite and got some real cushioning in there with the Footprint Kingfoam Orthotics

I have had this since day I remember myself skating. Top shole lace hole blows out first.
I think my hip and leg have limited lateral movement, I'm also not that flexible, so that could be the reason.
However, on switch foot there is more degradation where normally ollie hoes develop, and top laces are less affected.

Found these at Ross for 25 bucks. Only shoes worth buying in my size other than some canvas black and white DCs that had felt on the soles. They feel pretty good so far. Kinda stiff but they'll break in eventually.
