@ Matthew- nice ones! i had quite a few pairs of those but never that collar though. I still have a pair of the lost art ones i skated in but still wear but dont plan to skate in

Thanks, I definitely don't plan on skating mine either. I'd love to, and I'm always on the hunt for deeply discounted pairs of ugly colorways on obscure websites.
At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.

These next for me. Gave my Griffins to a kid at the park today who had holes in his Globes..poor bastard.
The Griffins skated sick though, lasted for about a month I guess, and I have been skating about three times a week.  They still had plenty of life in them too. I also have the XLKs in my cupboard, psyched to see how they skate.

I think these are the best skateboarding shoes ever made.
Would love a cupsole version with a dunk sole or something.

Doing a shoe purge tryna get rid of all my old skate shoes sitting around. First up are these Supra ellingtons I got on sale like 3 years ago. Skated them once or twice and had them tucked away since.

Aside from the choice of materials on this particular colorway, these are actually a pretty well constructed shoe. Padding around the collar is plush & supportive, the first thing I noticed going from my accel Mids which have a lot less padding in that area. The ellingtons are even lower cut, but more supportive. The thin foam midsole is a perfect compliment to my FP custom Orthotics too. All in all I forgot how dope these were and would recommend them. You can find these for dumb cheap on random online outlet stores.

However the TUF/canvas combo is trash. The TUF toecap seems super durable and has a decent flick but canvas sidewall is as weak as you'd expect it to be. Im not even mad at it cuz I need to run thru these anyway but Here's what they look like only an hour after the first pic was taken. Even ripped the laces at the top

I still don't understand why skate companies make canvas shoes at all.... I watched a friend put holes in some canvas Gonz shoes he picked up recently....took about twenty minutes.
Is there something I am missing here...?

Surely though, if they are making shitty canvas shoes that explode straight away, and some kid has used all his hard earned pocket  money to buy said shoes, you would assume next time they will buy something that will last, and probably stray away from  whatever brand does do canvas stuff...? And in doing this, they would be losing sales, losing money in the long run, despite trying to save money on materials.
I don't know, I sure as hell wouldn't buy any though. Last canvas shoes I had were chuck taylors when I was about 12.

Didn't someone say that Chima skates canvas because it keeps the shape better than suede while being more breathable?
Plus, isn't canvas the go to vegan option of a shoe?
Nothing I do deserves more than an iphone camera.

Shoe goo is the best thing for canvas sidewalls and canvas shoes. Use an ice cube.

One would think so but this is not the case. Kids buy canvas Vans after canvas Vans.

I have a theory that many skateboarders prefer gear that doesn't last because they like buying new stuff. This is why decks often last 2-4 weeks when they can be made much stronger and Vans sells the most skate shoes.

No, it's just what we have to settle for most of the time.

What about people with ethical reservations toward suede/leather? I'm not vegetarian myself but that thought immediately came to mind in regards to usage of canvas.

I like canvas but it really does suck for durabalatiy. what I do is get the black extra strong duct tape and put a square over where my ollie hole go, preventive mantainince and then take it off after.

Thanks to Vans for the Andrew Allen Slip-On in coke white. I'll probably just wear them around.

Lucky you.  Loved these (when I could still skate super minimal vulcs).  I could swear that I have a pair of these stashed somewhere at my parents' place.  What size are you?

I'm a 10.5-11, I found these on eBay a few years ago. Skate just as good as they used to.
