The rules of S.K.A.T.E.
« on: May 17, 2008, 08:27:31 PM »
No redos on the defense
No second try on the last trick
Also does anyone else ever play 2 or 3 games in a row using the "no same trick" policy?
How do you decide who goes first?  I will always let someone go first if they want, I don't fuck with rock paper scissors, that shit is for kids
A good game of S.K.A.T.E will never be decided by who goes first

No redos on the defense

rock paper scissors or flip a board(board or grip, like flipping a coin)
last letter you get 2 tries
often play several games with only new tricks

rebate on the last trick

no super sketch landings (unless they are so ridiculous you can't help but count it)

i also do the multiple games with no same tricks thing, it's rad.

rock paper scissors - or if we are all stoned and lazy, whoever gets up first.

no toe or heel touch on landing
360's are not a 180 pivot
no grabs
must be at least somewhat clean

i had to look that kid up to see what you're talkin about.

i agree to that.  whenever i do nollie fs cabs i pivot at the 270 point.  but sometimes if you can hear my front wheels slide during the pivot, i won't count that.  i usually play two tries on last trick, no repeat tricks, no tail drags or foot drags, and redo's on debatable tricks.  but i usually play by the rules of whoever challenges me, cause i'm not gonna fight over a game of skate.

What does no redo's on defense mean? You get them on offense? We do redos only if it is a multiple person game and nobody is sure if it counted or not.

And multiple game no redo is sick. We played 5 once. By the end it would alternate between shit like a varial double flip and somebody sitting on the board crosslegged while it was rolling and getting back out of it without falling off. It was ridiculous, and awesome.

no grabs? if someone is going to throw a grab in a trick the trick has to be steezy before the grab, no kickflip mutes on flat. my boy manson throws some crazy grabs in on tricks that i can't touch either way-proper hardflip w/ an indy is fucking bad ass. the motherfucker has been trying impossible nose grabs the last few times we skated

See, but grabs just add too many stupid x-factors. Simple, on flatground, no manual tricks, can you flip the board the way I can? That is skate.

Yeah, I love weird variations of that too.
No flipping the board is classic
We had one where you weren't allowed to hit your tail on the ground, but anything else was allowed, that one gets creative.

i agree but there's homie skate and there's random kids at a session skate. homie skate is anything goes unless otherwise specified. i'm down for anything in a game of skate, i get more hyped to try new tricks and variations.

don't do a bs shuv and pivit and think youve done a bs big spin...

offense - ride away clean

defense - little sketchiness is allowed

no 2 tries on last letter

new tricks each game

self props are enjoyable only with friends

quit if you stress

You guys are too up tight on your games.
Any trick. I if someone wants to go first they can but if they say whatever then we flip.
We flip boards, landing griptape up is the winner grip down is loser. and if you land primo then you win no matter what.
No toe or heel touches.

Be sketch as fuck no one cares.

I am so fucking tired of playing kids in games of fucking S-K-A-T-E! For me, it has always brought out the gayest shit in people. I'm very consistent when skating flat land, and I have tricks dialed that other people do not generally do as much, so that helps to make me a fairly decent player.

But when people challenge me to games these days, it feels like it's less of a way to get to know one another or to pass the time like it used to be, and more of a challenge for me to "defend my title" or whatever. And theres always that one motherfucker you beat over and over, that still begs you to play again and again.

I mean fuck. I hate everything about this bullshit game today. It encourages that whole "better skater than" jock attitude and reveals  previously hidden faggotry within people. Not to mention when people pull that "flatland revert" and "unpopped caballariel" shit.

rock, paper, scissors to decide

no pivoting/powersliding, toe/heel touch and tic tacs are a redo

redo's on offence or defence, 2 tries for last trick

everyone I play with claims half cab pivots as full cabs though, it's lame

I love to play skate, it's just a funner/less tiring way to practice flatground.  I just get put off by kids who land shit SO sketchy and claim it, then ask you to redo a trick you landed clean.

pretty much what was said, but we allow redos if there is just cause like a sudden distraction (kids running by, pebbles, poo gas, itchy balls)
