I think it might be the latter. He doesn’t seem like the brightest person, judging from his last interview. And it seems whenever a skater wants to look transgressive they either buy a Burzum or Dystopia shirt with no concept of what the music is.

In his last interview he goes on about how he spends 90% of his non-skating time playing weird, addictive video games and chugging hard alcohol until recently. His tone throughout the whole thing is slightly concerning and it seems he has severe depression that he has trouble dealing with. Highly doubt he has some crazy nefarious agenda and if he said shitty things as a kid at the park I’m sure it’s a product of being raised by shitty surf fucks.

I wouldn't doubt it. I doubt it's much of a money maker for him and he definitely has the money to keep it going for as long as he wants. But I do still see birdhouse out in the wild here and there I don't think their like bleeding money or anything.

They still do budget completes, and budget boards overseas as well.

I think they really started to reinvest in the brand a year or two ago. They stop doing team boards. Shawn is art director. The team size started to expand.
