Non-USA Shoe Brands

Canadian and doing what I can to not support the USA financially because of orange man.

What skate shoe brands would put the least money back into the USA if bought from a Canadian shop. ASICS?

That's a hard task... Last Resort? No matter how you look at it purchasing a skate shoe is probably gonna have some revenue for the USA in some form - ASICS have offices in 'murrica possibly?

I think you gotta look at it in a different way - If you buy a Nike shoe is the money going to Trump's pocket? Not really - no matter how small you are paying the wages of employees that design, manufacture and test the shoe - the pro skaters in a way. Sure, a huge percentage of proceeds will line the pockets of fat cats, but really that's the system we live in. Change of perspective = loss of guilt.

Skateboarding is heavily based out of the USA as you know, so I think it'd be impossible to not fund the orange man in some way haha.

What do you think? I've been thinking about this a lot lately.

These non-US brands come to mind: Adidas (Germany), Last Resort (Sweden), Asics (Japan), Reebok (UK), and Globe (Australia)

There are also seem to be a fair amount of lesser known skate shoe brands in South America.

Well yeah every major shoe brand except maybe last resort has some sort of USA headquarters. I'm just trying to minimize my money going there. Maybe the better question would be, do any Canadian distributors not get their shoe inventory from the USA. Or which brand would actually support our own economy best.

I do know what you mean about the money not going into orange fucks pocket, but I'm just doing my best to keep my money in Canada, and if not in Canada, i'd rather it go elsewhere than the USA. Of course there will be certain things where you can't get around this though, so i'm just wondering if skate shoes might be one of them.

Within Canada most of the brands would be delivering straight from the factory to a Canadian distribution centre. I guess the thing is to trace it back to see how much money from that particular company makes it's way back to the US in general and not just from your individual purchase.

I would say Last Resort would be your best bet as the brand is based in Sweden and and would ship directly to Grand Trading without stopping in the US.

That is unless someone brings back the Power skate line.

Within Canada most of the brands would be delivering straight from the factory to a Canadian distribution centre. I guess the thing is to trace it back to see how much money from that particular company makes it's way back to the US in general and not just from your individual purchase.

I would say Last Resort would be your best bet as the brand is based in Sweden and and would ship directly to Grand Trading without stopping in the US.

That is unless someone brings back the Power skate line.

Adidas have a big warehouse and headquarters near Toronto in Canada (and they have more warehouses elsewhere in the country, at least one in Montreal I think), their shoes sold in Canada directly from them or through canadian shops never touch the USA, perhaps that's why we don't always get the same colorways as in the USA.

Same goes for Reebok since it's owned by Adidas.

Just thinking out loud here, what about the employees/riders included in Adidas or Last Resort? Teams where the majority of the team is American, and those who are not that visit often or even live here

Edit: I think our daily purchases will make much more of a difference in monetary distribution than skate products will. By all means, put your money where you find appropriate in any circumstance, but I think it's a lot easier to make a difference through grocery store and online purchases rather than skate shoes, unless you buy a ton of shoes to skate in. You could probably redirect 75 dollars much easier in one trip to the grocery store, especially if you are married or have kids.
