Can't understand people breaking new boards on flat ground
I think seeing how some people skate, especially how some people land very awkwardly if they don't quite get a trick to work well, it makes a lot more sense.
The other thing to note is wood inconsistencies or other factors too, but in general any board, brand new through to whatever state of destroyed can seemingly break "just doing a simple trick" but I wonder what beatings that board has had before then to weaken it.
Even more so when boards are very new and very stiff, landing wrong, mostly snapping off the tail or nose, is way more common as I have done on the first session just turned up to the skatepark, tried a kicky on the platform, maybe a bit too keen, cracked the nose as I landed too far forward and was actually trying to get my feet off the board as it didn't flip right, grip too sticky or whatever.
A well worn in board just feels so much more right to me, not something that I have just set up, but that is probably more just a me thing.
I would be very in the back seat on tre flips so would often land heavily and break the tails on any boards, which is maybe the best thing to add more than anything else. I am not that big or heavy at all, but more just clumsy and not balanced, especially trying a little too hard to land on the board, when I maybe should have concentrated more on balance and other things.
