28 Years Later was enjoyable.   Kinda like a horror, gory Pixar film…(not plot related spoiler below).  No need to see the first two before this

NEW MOVIES IN JULY

(Light month - no one wants to get swallowed up by these big fish)

July 2
Jurassic World: Reborn (hate entire series except the first, but the director did the first Godzilla and most of Rogue One, so I’m cautiously optimistic)

July 11
Superman

July 18
I know what you did last summer
A24 movie

July 25
Fantastic Four

While I initially wanted to see him doing original films again, I do now recognize this is probably as awesome as James bond could ever get so fuck it I'm hyped

I love a man of his ability who loves making popcorn movies.    I think he would have done an Indiana Jones if he could have.

Tenet showed what a Nolan Bond could be like in the earlier scenes and I was excited for his potential 60s set take - but this is just as cool in a different tack

I went last night, and I'm definitely not sure what the fuck I watched. It felt like the movie switched tones multiple times.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

honestly, i loved it. there is a ton to unpack. to me it was a rich story about a kid coming of age in a “primitive culture” where he experiences a set of rights passage into adulthood. his experiences in life required of him something his community wasn’t able provide and he seeks out guidance through an unexpected journey. shit was dope and i am looking forward to the childhood television cult being unpacked in episode 2.

Anyone have issues trying to buy tickets for F1 but you get a ticket to Help! instead

Or have we moved so beyond keyboards and that bad joke doesn’t have any relevance anymore

28 Years later was really awesome. Definitely lived up to the critic praise and I felt was worth seeing in theaters for the sound detail.

Akiva from the Lonely Island directing makes me feel safe enough and balance out Seth MacFarlane who at least gets that type of humor.   Shit, he made an awesome Chip n Dale movie during the pandemic and Hot Rod and Pop Star speak for themselves

Pam Anderson being cast as the female lead is kinda inspired.   She’s turned her image around and has shown she has some decent acting chops but still fits in with Priscilla and Anna Nicole Smith

Saw "F1" yesterday. It was serviceable.

Vista Theatre in LA just put up dates for Kill Bill: Whole Bloody Affair!

Yeah, I picked up tix for this, looking forward to it.

I went to see "True Romance" in one of those screenings when they reopened The Vista. Beautiful theater.

One of my biggest regrets is missing out on seeing Blazing Saddles at the Chinese theater bc the movie ends inside of a movie theater ther

kinda hated F1. The racing shots were pretty fun but the dialogue, the story, the characters all just left me so bored and it was so long.   I would've left early but of course I dropped my headphones at the start and one of the earbuds was lost on the floor

Great time at Superman.   Like the Tom Holland Spidermen and The Batman - it was nice not have to go through an origin story again and it felt like a comic book in all the best ways

Maybe a slight edge over Thunderbolts…
