Saw the new Jurassic Park. Hated it. Also hated that it’s $70 for a family of 3 to go to the movies now. 3 tickets, small popcorn, large soda.

Saw it too. But I knew going in it was going to be bad. One of those "turn off your brain and enjoy" kind of movies. It was fun but so fucking stupid.

Remove the family and the excessive product shots and it’d be pretty solid.   T Rex river chase is straight from the book iirc

People who saw it in 4dx seemed like they had a blast though.   Kinda regret not shelling out for that

SNICKERS is a big ol meme in a chat I frequent.
When that fucking wrapper showed up in the first 30 seconds or so I was dying.

Edit: bout to see F1 the movie btw. I enjoyed Ford V Ferrari, hoping for the same exhilaration.

I had an absolute blast watching Eddington tonight. Great combo of humor and absolute insanity. I'll need to marinate on what I might rate the movie but definitely recommend for anyone that knows how bizarre and wild Ari Aster will take his films

I mistakenly assumed this was done by the Alex Garland, it felt similar to Civil War, which was very message heavy.

Now knowing it was Ari I get the creepiness and intensity of it all.

Thank god I never really experienced that kind of insanity during covid.

For those awaiting Weapons, word is Zach Cregger’s next one will be a Resident Evil that is faithful to the games

ari and eggers are giving me hope for these new directors. love these guys works. took the family to koren BBQ and to see  Eddington. everyone loved it except my 16 year old son who honestly tends to have slightly more basic taste than me in a lot of things. he's a cool kid but movies we don't line up too well. my 13 year old loved it. he said it was super original and it made you feel like you were in a different interesting place.

Enjoyed Fantastic Four, but almost wish it was a sequel.   It skips the origin story like the new Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman, but it’s a fun enough world, I wouldn’t have minded going through the origin aspects of everything and then had this next to look forward to.   Might give the slightest of edges to Superman, but it’s a 1a and 1b thing (thunderbolts meant a little more bc it dealt with depression)

If you remember Naked Gun is a dumb joke delivery system and see it with a crowd, I think you’ll enjoy it.

Eddington felt like Tim Robinson directed no country for old men.

Had a great time at Weapons.   Wasn’t that into Barbarians, but dug this and had a great audience at the theaters.   Might have helped that I previously had seen one of the worst movies of all time (happy Gilmore 2) prior to this.

Weapons was awesome. Glad I saw it this weekend too because Jesus Christ, people are already spoiling it everywhere.

It's worth seeing it just because Josh Brolin being annoyed is probably one of the funniest things I've seen this year. Also terrific ending, bleak, but satisfying.

Damn, you still shelling out for junk food at the movie theater?

Saw a review that called it Sam Raimi-esque and that nailed it to me.

Loved James!

Saw Karate kid legends as a guilty pleasure and it sort of disappoints …glad to see Jackie Chan doing his thing tho.  They tried too hard to bring in cobra Kai elements and it doesn’t stick as plot tension

Really?  I heard it was weirdly separate from the show
Bc it came from different creatives.   Thought it was sad they could never get Hillary Swank to return

Without spoiling there’s another east coast version of cobra Kai but really only one dude kinda like Jonny

I meet pat morita 2x around 1999 when I used to work at a hotel in downtown San Jose.  Dude was probably the funniest celebrity I meet there, his daughter was going to Stanford and loved visiting San Jose. Was also was stoked on the Miyagi footage used for the new Karate kid legends

Looks like there’s some Black Swan screenings happening nationwide from 21-24 (this weekend) if you need an Aronofsky starter to get ready for Caught Stealing

took the family to weapons and it was fun night out. good movie if you aren't too picky about it.

i that if people were anywhere near as forgiving with aliens films as they are with most films prometheus and covenant would have been better received. shit even alien erth is getting shit on and i can't wait to see part 3 tonight.

Jurassic Park has made done seven mediocre to bad movies in a row and still hasn’t even sniffed not being a major hit.

I’ve enjoyed but understood some of the hate for everything after Aliens (haven’t gone back to the Winona one) - but I really liked the one from last year

I liked Alien: Romulus, the black dude who played the android/synth was really good.  The British dude saying the something in the water is forever stuck in my head.

Im sketched out on anything Jurrasic Park related and actually pulled out my OG Jurrasic Park book from 1995 that I never read, so started on that which is fun
