Saw The Drama and Jerry Hsu’s wife Katina did costume design for it.

Had me thinking I wonder if she gets mad that Jerry doesn’t post they’re at like movie events or anything. Also made me think Jerry must to go premieres and shit like that but he doesn’t post anything like that. Also since his wife does costume design wonder if she contributes to sci-fi

Some parasocial musings

nothing's been the since same

Mk2 was not great.  Johnny Cage’s look and being an actor is almost exactly taken from Team America without the irony behind it

Costume designers in general are attending huge soirées, let alone if your two projects are for two industry sketchballs (one of which is based in Europe)

Damn kinda hated Obsession.   Heard good things and thought it an interesting premise but I didn’t like any part of the execution of the story.

I enjoyed "I Love Boosters". Got kinda out there as it went on but I guess that is par for the course. It stayed largely cohesive and entertaining. Keke Palmer deffo carried it through, she's talented. Supporting cast did their thing. Demi Moore was good as villain too.

Spike Lee × Bong Joon Ho × Mike Judge × Everything Everywhere All At Once × John Carpenter.

Recommend.

Dude thank you, that movie was awful.

It’s like. You can use the golden ratio to make a good outfit and the outfit can be technically a fine outfit but if it has no style, or soul, or purpose, it’s still a shit outfit.

You can have set ups and pay offs and follow a 3 act structure and have decent acting. But if the film is void of soul, style, or purpose, what the fuck is the point.

Snuck into the Star Wars gogurt movie in imax, it’s me and an old dude in a massive Theater alone and homie is absolutely MUNCHING on that popcorn.

The trailers are still playing

First time seeing the supergirl trailer and shorty looks EXACTLY like Danny Duncan

Edit

The dad from something about the Johnsons is in the opening scene from the star wars gogurt movie and that’s all I can think about now

Not that we needed it, but this being the only comment about a new Star Wars movie sums it all up.  I don't even know what I would nominate for second most ruined IP in history

she works on a lot of A24 productions and you can always tell she's involved when you see a small skate brand pop up on the screen i.e. call me 917/bianca chandon in euphoria

seeing Backrooms in t minus 20 minutes. as someone who has been a fan since the creepypasta i'm super excited for this and hope it lives up to the hype

Believe me I don't enjoy saying this but the new Spielberg movie is looking worse with each trailer

And the part with the man himself telling us that he believes aliens exist... man I don't know, that was not a great idea to sell the movie

But I'm hearing that some people like it so who knows

The problem with a lot of these guys is they direct so many movies that it kind of waters down their whole thing.  How many Spielberg films are all time greats at this point?  A small percentage of his body of work. (but thanks for the greats man they are greatest)

I saw Tin Tin in the theatre and loved it, 2011 I think?  Not exaclty Spielberg 80s level but a lot of fun.

Let me think about your list and get back to you, you make some good points

(You last God tier one was from the 90s, so that's kind of what I'm saying, but you give me to think about things)

Good list.  I think Minority Report could be a tier higher but I also think that one’s super underrated these days.

Forget Fabelmans and wanted to include Poltergeist on god tier bc of rumors he secretly directed it

Agree with @Brotherly Shuvit    Minority report lives between two levels for me

Spielberg may not have had god tier since 98, but has Scorsese hit that high mark since Goodfellas?   Don’t know if Casino or Departed get that high

Backrooms wasn’t for me.   Felt like I was watching an indie video game and then Lost.  Probably enjoyed it more than obsession, which I cannot fathom why it’s generating strong word of mouth, but I think it’s a hit with young kids who haven’t seen a lot of movies (not a diss, younger generations are starting to get into movies)

Yeah, love Spielberg but "DD" looks terrible.

I'm actually looking forward to new "Scary Movie" and I haven't seen any of them since the 2nd.

Your Scorsese point is kind of what I'm saying.

He and Spielberg haven't done anything *that* great since the 90s.

I'm trying to think of artists of any medium who cemented their supreme genius status in the 20th century and continued to make work on that same level with no dip in quality into the 21st century, and the only name that comes to mind is David Lynch.

Another example that just came to mind sadly is Rob Reiner (RIP).

Dude directed three of my all time favorite movies, one of which is in my top five films ever, but the 21st century and even end of 20th century, not anything that I cared for, just like all of the greats except for Lynch

I see what you’re saying, but God Tier to me is like all time top 25 in movie history type of movies.   That second level isn’t anything to sneeze at.   Ridley Scott would be someone vacillates hard with two God Tier movies and more far below that (and I might be inclined to put Gladiator in GT)

Extra firm implies some resistance though.
Effort exerted, despite lack of flavor, means something worthwhile must’ve been experienced.
