This is killing me — what’s the clip where someone does something sick and the photographer or someone turns to the camera and goes “that’ll work”? It’s been driving me nuts trying to recall it. A Dylan trick maybe? Or from a Transworld vid? I’m fucking flailing, please god end my torment

Speaking of scooters. Was anyone else full-on rocket power as a kid? Skateboarding was my first love, but I also dabbled in inline, and would ride a scooter or bike when given the opportunity. Even tried to luge... on my 7.6 setup...

I remember inline being the most fun, not skateboarding fun, but I could drop in and do some basics.

I always thought inline would be the sickest if you got good enough where it's second nature like walking and you could just cruise your town with your blades on 24/7 no one-style without having to lug a board around.
if post- retirement duke nukem bagged that azz i have a chance too

If you get to a point where your switch game is miles better than regular and you can push fine either way, at what point are you considered the other stance?

I never understood what was so good about Sean Malto. Also Koston. I dont really understand why those 2 are so highly rated. Where Mike Mo, Brandon Biebel, MJ, the talent was very obvious to me and seemed on another planet. They didnt seem human they were so good. I dont know i would say the same about those other 2.

Rick Howard is actually super slept on too, i never realized how good he was. Could be the best skater they have ever had on the team actually. inhuman amount of humbleness for him to step back and let other people on the team shine when he easily could have carried them vs those other 2. I feel like they were kinda the main faces of the brand during different periods. Rick back feebled like a 16 stair in like 1989 or some shit. Never piled out, in fact, pulled people out of pile outs. If there is any pro I could meet, it might be Rick Howard.

I never read this thread before just saw what you said
Yea he was fucking insanely good super tech
It sucks so bad that lots of his stuff is filmed just terribly but was the era
Questionable part and virtual reality are really good

I think to this day virtual reality part has best sw tre  on flat ever documented
Maybe it’s a little kicker who cares tho

I can’t find it but a girl tour video in aus he did one trick was already old as shit at this point and it was easily the craziest thing in the video
Was on Vimeo but he do fakie ollie fakie manual  down a very steep bank to drop
Absolutely fucked -edit- I’m trying to remember the trick it was like one floor up roof height and he goes either fakie ollie fakie manual or sw Ollie fakie manual and it’s like a rooftop height steep bank to drop and the bank was bricks I think
Absolutely incredible there was crew in the shot and everyone there just lost their shit

I’ve heard he doesn’t like to film anymore cause he’s too old but like out of anyone he’s like the guy everyone fucks with is a bummer no more filming
Also heard has bad feet so maybe that is the issue

But re koston, he’s still my like spiritual favourite lol
Back in the day when you’re a kid and you’re like well who’s the best skateboarder in terms of tricks it was koston bro, was him for like 20+ years

He had a bad reputation he’d either kill a demo or do nothing and heaps of cunts in Australia would say man he can’t even skate but I think touring and demo ing is fucking crazy workload he probably just had a gutful

It's not this but that reminds me of the clip when Erik Ellington frontside flips over a square rail and you hear someone in the background say, "it's no Tom Penny but it'll do"
There was no wire. Clark's planet needed him.

You ever have some random dude run up to you super excited and acting all cool with you even though you have no idea who this fool is, only to realize later it's some kid you were nice to back in the day, now they're like 19? Happened to me last week. Blows my mind every time

there was a kid who saw me skating as a literal infant, I was probably 18 or so, now I am 40 and he is like mid-20s, I didn't recognize him at all. It was cool to see though.

idk if you guys have ever seen this video "Speed Freaks"
It kinda just shows guys skating their daily shit and at the beginning it also tells you what wheel the guy rides
it would be amazing it spitfire did a 2026 version of this (I know OJ would be more authentic but i dont think they have as heavy hitting a squad...)
I think there is a San Fransicsco edit coming soon though from Spitfire

a Thunder Trucks / Venture Trucks full length would be amazing too. cant see any ofthese things ever happening realisitcally though...

I think i might be having some kind of false memory or a Shazam film starring sinbad phenomenon, but i swear Marc Johnson says he wrote on novel, like a fictional novel, maybe even sci/fi, i thought it was in the epicly later'd documentary, i remember him in his house talking about how he took time off skateboarding an wrote a book. Does anyone have the vid or this or remember something similar?

I dunno, when I got tre flips it became very hard to varial flip. Possibly just cause I stopped doing them entirely for a very long time. But when I try them now I feel like I have to be very dainty with them to keep them from over-rotating.

That is indeed the case, same as with fakie tres in relation to regular tres. But this guy asked about biggerflips, 540 flips and tre reverts. Which is an extra layer on top of the treflip, not on the side of it.

Yeah was curious about other takes and where those land on the help or hurt spectrum because regular shuvs are world’s easier after learning 360 shuvs but doubleflips mess your singles

Not the point but my varial flips have kind of been the same level of consistently inconsistent regardless of whatever bag I’ve got

Anyone else prefer watching parts of skaters with their same stance? I skate regular and I just feel I can relate more and be more amazed when I see someone skating regular too. Makes no sense, I know.

Also, does anyone also experience a sharp pain in their groin/perineum when jumping gaps/stairs? I don't try those anymore because I'm in my late 30s, but even at 15 I would just feel a weird sensation jumping stuff that even weren't that big (6-7 stairs). I could never understand how pros would go down big stuff

I'm regs and I find it easy to get mixed up when goofy foot skaters do fakie and nollie tricks, even when watching my goofy foot homies at the session.

Oh, for sure... If a skater's regs (I'm goofy), I kinda have to pay a bit of attention to see what they're doing switch, fakie etc. Usually on rewatch. On first watching, I just like to immerse, have an experience, not analyze anything. If they're goofy I just automatically "feel" what they're doing, I immediately have an idea of how much stuff they're hitting switch etc.

Have to actively think about every trick. Pretty much gotta watch it twice. Jerry hsu had a younger me very confused. Looked up his Tampa profile so many times back when
