Popping Switch Front Heels?
« on: September 02, 2025, 08:59:27 PM »
I have good switch heelflips, can pop them pretty big if I want and can also do fun tiny ones. I have better switch fs 180s than I do switch bs 180s, but I can pop switch back heels pretty nicely on occasion.

Now, I can do like 10 switch front heels in a row sometimes and they can be pretty smooth and feel cool, but they are not popped at all. If I concentrate on popping they just stop working and don't really spin very much.

I would've thought I could figure this out myself, but it's a been a few years of trying here and there and I just can't pop a switch front heel for the life of me.

Anyone got any magical advice for this one?

If your switch heels are as good as you say, switch heel with a slight frontside turn, catch it and then finish the 180

you would think so wouldn't you? thanks for this classic pro skater trick tip - "so what you want to do, is do a switch front heel".

there is a disconnect between me popping a switch heel and rotating a switch heel. i can pop switch heel varials too, so it's like if my shoulders/arms open to spin, my popping foot just won't go down all the way. it's pretty weird - i think i just have to accept that i can't ever do big fat switch front heels, just little flicky ones.

Sounds like you’re not catching them properly? Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. It’s as simple as that if you have a proper switch heel which you seem to think you have

What’s “big” for you? 8 inches off the ground?

I mean I don't measure them as such, but I can do like knee-highish switch heels. I'm not like the king of switch heels, they are only a flatground trick for me. I don't do them over things or down big gaps or anything. You just see people do popped switch front heels and they kind of look easy/like they make sense and I feel like I have all of the stepping stone tricks that should lead to a decent one, but instead I have these little flingy ones.

Maybe I'm not catching them properly, I don't know. Please elaborate.

I suppose you wouldn't answer this honestly if you were being this way, but are intending to be snarky or am I misreading your tone?

No advice from here, just to let u know that I have the same ”problem”
My ss front heel is basically a ss varial heel with rotation.
Cannot for the life of me keep the board level and rotate.
Kinda stopped doing them lately too.

Land clean

And roll away…
