Perhaps this is more an indication of my interest level, but I'd assumed he'd been cut from Flip years ago. Second shock is that Laun has 1.6 Million followers on Instagram?? Somebody hook this guy up with Greg Lutzka's agent. Luan should be getting that bush's bean money.

Used to love watching that guy skate flatground in BATB when the Berrics was still somewhat cool like 10 or 15 years ago. He had a few good parts too but his street footy never hit the same in comparison to his flatground imo. Anyways, I didn’t really look at that IG post but I assume he’s gonna make his own board brand like every other washed up pro. If he keeps it specific to Brazilian skating, it might be pretty dope, I’m sure there’s a bunch of Brazilian teenagers that could really use his cosign. I hope he doesn’t sponsor a bunch of randos from SoCal though, that would be a bummer.

Op, you ok man? Being real here, you doin alright?

He could have benefitted from a Chief like figure being like “go here, do this” honestly.

This

Hasn't put a part in so many years. Two or three years ago he said in a Brazilian podcast that he only had to film one trick to finish a part but dropped nothing (I guess it could have been related to getting the boot from Nike, but why not drop as throwaway footage?). Plus he was hurt some time ago. His career is basically gone.

Damn. Alec and Luan in the same week? Flip is all legacy pros. How long can they stay afloat on Tom Penny reissues.

In what reality did he deserve a pro Nike shoe?   Do I not get the luan love because I don’t watch berries/contests?

I’m sure Tom Penny reissues are the only thing keeping Flip afloat.

The problem with a company like Flip is that they can't reinvent themselves... they were always Tom, Geoff and Rune. With the people that were directly related to them aka were on the team at the same time... Eg. Ali, Arto etc. complementing them.

Anything else is just shit. eg. Denny Pham?

I don’t know about one of the greatest but the fall off from that first flip part was palpable. His style got better but his parts were just the same ledge tricks at same spots. when he had shown us he was capable of so much more. I assume this is because of him dropping the DE from his name, all the talent was in the DE.

Fuck it.. throw him on Shortys. From one irrelevant brand to another. Probably the only brand I could see a fit if he even wants to stay pro. Should've probably tried to get on Primitive years back when Primitive was peak but that ship has sailed.

Maybe his footage doesn't translate, but in person one of the best skateboarders I have ever seen in my life. The footage doesn't show how consistent he is, watching him cruise a park is insane.

IMO he belongs somewhere still.

Yeah Luan always killed me because he had the potential to put his mark on skating, the ticks he could have done over Wallenberg would have been amazing. Unfortunately, he became a contest pro that refused to skate rails.

This. Watching him skate in person is just ridiculous, so impressive. I feel like he's a flatground / flip trick specialist and he should have found a way to stick to his guns, instead of trying to skate like everyone else. You would think there's room for a flatground ninja, I think his skating translates really well in short socials clips, always stoked to watch those.

He got screwed out of royalties and payouts from his "equity" in the company if I recall correctly...

He missed that train. Primitive is struggling and rumors point to bankruptcy. There’s zero chance they’re expanding anytime soon.

Primitive was sold. No bankruptcy. No second company. No Luan. New owners, should be announced soon.
