Looking for durable skate shoes like the es accel og
« on: October 20, 2025, 09:41:48 AM »
Got some es accel OGs because that’s what I used to skate but they are not nearly as durable as I remember. Is there any skate shoes that you guys know of that are similair? I picked up some adidas Tyshawn 1s and they are just to much board feel for me. I throw on my accel ogs and they just feel right other than the toe area falling apart. They only lasted about a week with minimal skating. Any suggestions would be great. Was looking at the emerica mutes but I see es falls under the same distribution umbrella.

NBs are probably the best built shoes out there atm.

ASICS Japan Imo
I have had lots of NB, Nike, adidas, last resort, cons; every brand almost they all make good shoes the ones I just listed that last me long enough time. But the Japan S is Cup sole and lasts forever
I had to shoe goo the sides but the sole just won’t die. The last shoe I had like that was the accel OG and the japans are wayyy less bulky and 100x more skateable imo

How's the midsole support feel/last in the Japans? The mid has been on my radar if I ever stray from the 440 high. Haven't found a vid cutting it in half to see. Wondering if midsole cushion is full length/eva and hoping it's not egg crate.

If you can go through a pair of shoes in one week, I don’t know how any shoe can last much longer for you. I’m using the worst made shoes I’ve possibly ever had right now and they are still ok after more than a few weeks worth of skating. Unless you are bombing hills and holding your soles down to purposefully grind them away or doing thousands of ollies a day, I don’t comprehend how even the shittiest material can wear away that quick.

If it's just an issue with the flick area wearing out you can coat those areas with some tuff toes or kg boot guard. More expensive than shoe goo but much more durable.

Dunks are usually pretty durable for me tho someone on here had the escargots and ripped them in like 1 sesh. Second the Japan pro. They lasted me almost all summer with just minimal super glue on the high wear areas. There is also a plastic layer under the suede that holds up well. I personally didn't mind the egg crate but I also swapped insoles

my bad guys thought it was funny + cant let anyone talk shit about my favorite shoes, espically with no proof?

Too bulky? Ok fair. Kinda lame? No argument there. Barely has a team? Haha that’s so true.

But not durable? We have to draw the line somewhere

I love the accel OGs but I’m not sure if it’s the pepper grip tape I got on this board or what but I chewed through the toe cap quick. Stitching just busted apart and that was just a week of relearning things. I’m still skating them though I super glued everything back into place to hopefully have it hold up. I like the bulky skateshoes though. The adidas Tyshawn’s I have are just too narrow and I feel every bit of impact even with new insoles. Not sure how these guys skate in these new skate shoes coming out but thinking I may go with emerica mutes as they are on sale in my size or just skate these until my toes are poking out and get another pair.

Ended up going with the NB tiago 1010s. After deep diving into shoe reviews and researching all the cup sole shoes out I landed on the 1010s. As much as I wanted to stick with the brands I grew up with I needed something a bit more. They were on sale on CCS so I picked them up. Next shoe I will try though is the Japan S.

I ended up getting the Tiago 1010s they were on sale and cheaper than the 480s. I’m 35 now and figure I could use more support. Seems the brands that were around that used to have a lot of tech in their shoes are no longer producing good cup sole shoes. Alot of these new shoes are mostly vulc with zero support. I bought some adidas Tyshawn’s and man for a cup sole shoe they’re junk. Hoping these Tiagos will be good and live up to the hype. Seems like they’ve been around a while and people are still buying them and reviewing them and good reviews too. But I know everyone is different so hopefully I found a shoe I can stick with that’ll be durable.

Yea the 1010s and the 808s are probably an even better option for you than the 480s tbh.

I just mentioned the 480s because I have the most experience with them.
