Took a brief look at this kids profile and looks like he rides for bones wheels as well. I don't know why but in my mind, if you ride for bones, it should lock you out of riding for "cool" brands.

I’m 100% with you. Bones wheels are trash and feel closer to Walmart complete wheels than anything else.

but was Andrew ever more than a flow?

he did have a part and great footage in we blew it at some point

Thank you I forgot that one, only remembered him having random tricks here and there.

I’m pretty sure he said Polar was turning him pro after that video but he saw the graphic and hated it and bailed? It was in his heckride interview.
[close]

I don't exactly read it as the graphic being the main reason but hey

I know people have gone on record to say that Pontus Alv can be a bit intense to deal with. Did you guys have any disagreements or butt heads at all?

Yeah, nothing too crazy though. There would be disagreements from time to time on skate trips. Sometimes he would just put off a bad vibe and it would trip me out, but I’m also just a different person than he is. That’s my friend and I understand that at the end of the day you’re the boss, but it just never felt comfortable. I knew I wasn’t going to be there forever.

I heard rumors of there being a pro board already in the works, is that true?

Yeah, there was. I saw the graphic that was mocked up for my pro board and it would have been a graphic that, if that was my pro board, I would have cried - and not tears of joy. I mean shoutout to Pontus for the gesture in wanting to turn me pro but I wasn’t feeling the graphic.

I didn’t mean to imply that’s why he left, just that he wasn’t flow, he had a video part and was also offered a pro board but declined then left.

Curious what the graphic was that would have made him cry. Homie skates black wheels so his taste is inherently questionable.

Bummer about David. Piling the hate on this new kid seems a bit mob mentality. Pontus seems like a difficult guy but acting like he doesn't have taste or vision is moronic. I haven't forgotten the first Emile part and how much it stoked me out. Also signing KRod, Herrington and Boserio.

Also someone listed Michael Juras among the people who left Polar. He didn't leave, he got kicked off when Polar was expanding across the pond and he had a knee injury. Really fucked him up and pretty much ended his career. Come to think of it, Andrew Wilson might actually have taken his spot. Or maybe it was Aaron Herrington.

Granted, but looking like a refugee from the Gathering of the Juggalos isn’t helping things.
Further, the fact that they’re broadcasting him landing a sloppy looking trick, rather than asking him to take one more pass at it in order to make it look a lickle bit cleaner doesn’t aid in selling him to  us.
Tidy that shit up, Cap’n Jack!

I've been feeling like this is probably what that was like. Going through the motions and putting on whichever weirdo trendy kid is watered down Polar, for sure. Emile worked because he's magical... scatalus or whatever is not lol.

I think it was Pontus who said brands have a 10 year lifespan... I thought they were going to be one of the exceptions and be cool for much longer, but lately it doesn't seem like it's going to last. At least they beat 10 years.

Im not loving the newly implemented art direction from sirus graham. Its starting to look like a hockey ripoff now, but thats probably what the kids want. Guess Im just partial to the classic jacob ovgren/pontus art direction from polar

I think captain jack sparrow is also a direct addition from sirus graham. I would disagree though that the art is more hockey like. Just looking at their recent drops its pretty consistently almost a 50/50 mix between more "serious graphics" that are directly from the photography of paul grund or pontus and cartoonish ones that are more reminiscent of the early jacob ovgren/pontus art but it does feel less fresh than it did back then. Im just glad they stop letting emile do the graphics lol.

I like the new kid tbh, I think that style of ironic trick selection and semi-ironic clothing has its own niche and he is a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of the older team. The other dudes they added aren't really that offensive either, they all kinda fill their own roles. I will say that I am surprised Pontus was cool with the scatalas guy getting on though, didn't Ville leave cuz Pontus was being a control freak and policing his outfits? And Ville's outfits were a bit tacky but not nearly as outlandish as this young lad's.

In all fairness though I'm partial to some unconventional tricks and even some unconventional fits... but both together on high volume is veering closer to Richie Jackson territory than anything else for me.
