What was your first skateboard deck?
« on: November 15, 2025, 06:29:10 PM »
My first deck was a Powell Peralta Ray Barbee Hydrant (the purple one).

Curious if you remember your first and if so, what was it?

A had a few at different time periods:

Little kid: Variflex Tiger (wheel broke and there was no skateshop and no CCS back then)

Middle School: ATM Click brown and yellow Hard Rock Cafe logo rip off. (I didn’t know anyone one that skated, so stopped.)

High School: CCS light blue slick blank (finally met skate friends and started skating everyday)

Then I’d say my first “real” deck was a Shorty's big logo red/black/white after the CCS deck got reaaallly soggy and kind of floppy

Thanks y’all. It’s been fun.

3rd grade: Some Ninja Turtle fishtail swapmeet board.

6th grade: My first popsicle was a Sports Authority Maui and Sons complete with plastic trucks and wheels.

8th grade: First real complete (I saved up for and bought) was Shorty’s Muska, Fury Trucks, Muska Ghetto Child Wheels, Black Panther Bearings, Silverado Bolts, and Black Magic Grip.

Yea, I went with the full Muska setup at the time. LOL.

Probably a Powell blank. First one I remember is the Masked Penis From Venus.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

My first ever legit deck was a Jaya Bonderov Adrenaline board.  From what I remember, the graphic was an inmate approaching a prison guard with a spoon hidden as a shank. I wish I could at least find a photo of that graphic, but it was probably a pretty rare board.

One of those little cruiser mini surfboard shaped completes with a patch of grip on the front and back of the wood deck was my first skateboard.

First “modern” style skateboard was the Kamakazi from Price Club.

First “pro” setup I pieced together myself at a skate shop was a Schmitt Stix Lucero X2, clear grip, Tracker Ultalights and I think Slimeballs with German or NMB bearings.

First real skateboard was a AWS "Believe" w/Gring King trucks and AWS wheels

In 3rd grade or 4th I got a Variflex “Later Gator” board with plastic trucks and wheels. I believe it was from Kmart. I was riding it around on my stomach around the duplex I was living in. At the time I only knew of one person in real life who skated. He lived in the same duplex and he called himself Mongo. I don’t know if that was his real name or if he pushed mongo.

My first real board was a Stereo deck with Venture trucks. I don’t remember what wheels I had.

After that deck I got a Hook Ups “Voltron” deck from Mike Mcgill’s Skate shop in New Port Richey FL. Then I got a Muska Shorty’s deck.

first one was a department store deck i never was able to find again. did find my brothers and my 2nd one wich where a TruToys Missile and a Aloha Hawaii (wich i found in the thrash), no idea what brand since many used that grahpic i think. this was late 90's already funnily enough. before i seriously got into skating.

first legit board was a hand me down 7.75 Minilogo around 2006. skated a fiew of those since everyone here had those during the skating boom early 2000's and gave em away cause they all quit.
first board i bought was a black dipped Real with a grey graphic of a spade on it. cant find it anymore

My first ever board was a Yu-Gi-Oh Walmart complete that I absolutely demolished with spray paint and idiotic antics by the end of its lifespan.

My first real board ever; I was one of the Viva La BAM kids, so naturally mine was the Element BAM board with the standard red/black coloring. Thought I was so cool and ended up getting another Element as my second. I believe that one said “Protect Nature” or something along those lines.

My third one was the Flip Mark Appleyard graphic that was an arrow going through an apple. Started learning how to do shuvs and fakie bigspins on that one and it was all downhill from there.

got a Caldor complete in 5th/6th grade circa 1995/96. Still hadn't made up my mind about boots or boards. I moved to a new neighborhood at the start of 7th grade and connected with 2 separate dudes who skated. Marky's cousin Derek kicked me down Marky's variflex dragon deck when Marky moved to a group home. That was a pretty coveted deck for us. Then this kid Eddie got in trouble for trying to burn his family's home down and he kicked me down a purple Powell slick late in 7th grade. Hangers were some sort of alloy and the baseplates were plastic. I learned to ollie on that board. I rode that for a long time, eventually getting kicked down a set of GKs from someone whose parents bought them whatever the wanted in school. this older kid Gary gave me a zoo or 5boro deck in the mean time. the first brand new deck I got was probably for my 13th birthday, a Paul Zuanich Think.

First board was a mall board, but I quickly started to update it whit legit parts.

First deck was a A-team Dave Mayhew.

I could be a little more stoked of a first deck.

Holy shit dude!!!  Thank you so much!  I don't know how you found that, I've searched a few times throughout the years.  I'm going to gnar you for the next week.   I wish this thread popped up a few months ago, I could have potentially bought that.

First board was a fiberglass banana board that had some red white blue patriotic stuff on the top that was covered up by the grip. It was one of three decks that my folks got from someone at Koolau Baptist Church.

The rest of the components were vintage parts from Cobra Skateboards in its original location across from A’ala skatepark. Board was fast and rode smoothly and I used to ride around the block trying to “wheelie” as long as possible.

My first complete was a dipped black Hosoi street mini with white OJII Rockets, independent trucks, nmb bearings, and cellblock risers. I paid for half of it by delivering newspapers.

Mine was a Hosoi hammerhead with one tracker and one Indy truck and green and pink slime balls. Bought it off a neighborhood kid for $20.

First used deck was a Toy Machine Jamie Thomas with a burning American flag across the bottom. It was a pretty cool/striking graphic. It had Gullwing trucks with yellow bushings.

I remember my first deck was a World Industries Wet Willy that my dad got me for Christmas from Hot Rod. It came with Grind King trucks and Kris Markovich Spitfire wheels
