I had a great mindfulness skate session yesterday where I dropped every goal I had and concentrated on doing things that I felt like doing and stuff that just makes me happy. I've been pushing too hard lately because stress of every day life has crept into my sessions. It was fun to just do lines of simple stuff and cruise around and try some completely random stuff in between. Felt like I got inspired and there's more purpose than to just progress. Did Yin yoga after the sesh. Shin Sanbongi, Carl Shipman, Jovontae Turner and Magenta and Evisen videos on heavy rotation lately. Feels good.
Those sessions are crucial from time to time a good reset and reminder why we’re really doing this for. All my sessions have been like that the past 10 days or so because I’ve been racking up small injuries.
& then i strained a muscle in my back/neck last Saturday waking up over night. But it’s been feeling too good outside so i’ll just pull up on the cruiser board n do transition,a bunch of kickflips, heelflips, 50s n mannys lol mainly i’ll just film any homies trying to get a trick and smoke weed try n not hurt myself any further but it still makes for a great time
I forgot the joy of skating a cruiser board til i went to a show the other night and just drank tequila, smoked a bunch and skated inbetween sets (had so much fun i missed half a set haha) I’ve never had that much fun skating alone
Fun bullshit sessions are imperative. As much as it feels good to progress I’m glad you caught yourself before getting lost in the sauce I feel like you’ll get everything you’ve been wanting next time you skate now hermano 🤝
Might have to add JT n Carl to my rotation… haven’t been watching any skate videos lately truthfully have been trying to not skate and just rest up and heal but I can’t help it this time of year especially
