When is the Tactics closeout sale ?

Last time I was in Portland I popped in because they were having some sale. It seemed like it was run like a Zumiez. Older manager with skin tight pants, lip ring, stupid hat, and warped tour ass band t shirt bossing around young kids that did not seem like skaters.

I never considered really the idea of tactics as a brick and mortar that locals loved. Seeing the commits of people lamenting its corporate take over is a bummer.

It has been a real shop in Eugene for a long time. So probably has some fans there.

Used to get the shoes that were on sale on their site pre corpo takeover, for a while they had really good deals. One time I went into the Eugene store and I’m pretty sure they thought I was trying to shoplift, the way they were looking at me was kinda crazy. Got weird vibes at the Portland store also. Eh, would be more bummed if this were happening a decade ago, now not so much. There are other shops in Portland to support, like Cal Skate and Commonwealth for example. Not sure about Eugene though.

They also use to have different prices based on browser, notably free shipping on my Mac in safari, and 10$ flat right on pc chromes

I checked earlier today. Now to get free shipping is $250 & up. Tactics been done since March Rosa bought them...

Cal skate is still there. It is 50 years old this year. Arguably the oldest skate shop on the planet, although some people claim Val Surf is (but that was/is mostly a surf shop?).

Anyway, Tactics opened a store a few blocks from Cal Skate a few years back. It is still open.

Weren’t they originally going to have it across from them or on the same block until there was a big pushback? Thats the way I seems to recall it(very possible I’m mistaken since it was secondhand info from my BIL and a few convos with Donovan). Figured you were there so you’d know better than me.

Last time I was in Eugene, it was 1994, and we stopped at Lazar's Bazar.  Lazar's was way cooler vibe, a bunch of bongs and things normal 14 year olds were not seeing at the time.  Bought some Sex Wax skate wax, and Consolidated 1 VHS.

Bend has Tactics, Solsk8, and Zumiez.  The Tactics dudes were always pretty cool.

Solsk8 is the only non-chain local but his selection is pretty minimal.  If you want to try on skate shoes Tactics had the best options. Same with boards, wheels, e.tc. 

So would suck to see the local brick and mortar go no matter how shitty corporate might be.
