03 f150. Ford does make a solid v6 engine. 5 spd manual in a single cab long bed with a camper shell.

I recommend everyone own a manual at some point. It gets you to actually pay attention to how your vehicle runs on a day to day basis.

Favorite vehicle was an 08 Grand Marquis. It was clean and such a nice ride. Had a moon roof and a sun roof. Depending on the time of day....

100% about driving manual. You don’t have to like it, although I prefer it but I don’t think you really learn how to drive without learning manual. At least, like you said, it helps you understand what is going and you naturally pay more attention to what’s going on.

I drive a 80bhp Skoda Fabia wagon, truly just “a car”. No screens or anything, just a practical lil beast that does the job every damn day.

Drove from Sweden down to France a couple of weeks ago, four people and luggage fully loaded, and managed to hit 200 kph on the autobahn with it.

Curious about a gas-hydraulic Citroen though.

Do y’all think they will ever make simple cars with less bells and whistles (electronics) inside of them? I ask because the wife and I both do not like screens. I don’t want a flat screen TV inside of my car. I guess that is an impossible ask, and I should not expect that from a car/truck manufactured after 2018. I would really love the option to be able to purchase a manual truck that is simple, on the small side, and designed like a 1991 Ford ranger but manufactured within the past decade.

There is a significant demand for cars to go back to physical controls instead of screens, and some companies are talking about bringing them back, but this point a big ass touch screen on the dash is cheaper than a bunch of knobs and buttons.
So, ironically, it'll probably mostly be expensive, higher end cars that go back to physical controls while budget friendly cars keep the screens.

Its crazy like, how the majority of people buy cars for the bells and whistles, and completely ignore the drive train components.

I bought a 2021 Tundra because its tried and true. I sincerely hope my oldest son gets to drive it in 12 years

I've been looking at leasing an EV, as the tax breaks here are pretty decent right now.

Cars these days, though, are like all touchscreens and all this damn fancy stuff inside. Not sure I'm into that so much.

I have a 2009 Forester XT and the only thing I miss is a reversing camera. That would be handy sometimes. Other than that, as long as the aircon is cold, and you can flog it around corners, that's all I need.

Some of the 0-60 times on these new EVs is pretty cool though. But also, I expect they drive like golf carts or something?
Is it true?  Or did you read it on the slap message board?

Exactly. Ain’t nothin fancy about a $20 touchscreen in your car. It’s an easy way for the companies to cheap out and flip it like they are providing high tech quality when it’s just another way to increase profits.

I’ve got an 03 f150(4.6 v8) as my parts hauler. Biggest pos I’ve ever had. The fucking thing throws a code pretty much every year(almost always coil packs) right before I need to smog it for the last 5 times. Really looking forward to that happening this time now that gas is $7 or up and I’ll need to run it through a drive cycle and waste a few hundred just to do that(as well as whatever it throws a code for this time. Hasn’t yet but it always does).

Glad you’ve had good experiences with yours but I’d say avoid them at all costs if you can.

2012 Lexus RX450h and wife drives a 2012 Prius. both have about 170K on them. ordered some cigarette adapter Carplay units to mount via suction cups and we're good.

The RX is awesome in so many ways except for the nagging important things, like torque/acceleration and fuel economy. I'd like to upgrade to a newer Rav4 or even a Ford Escape hybrid (same powertrain), and move from 27mpg to 40+
