ok it is way better, but there is also psychology involved, the good design of the Budvar bottle makes you feel like a king drinking it...

I have to stock a lot of beer at the little grocery store I work at, It's always fun to just read what those brewer dudes say. Beer is their life.

Anyone ever go to www.beeradvocate.com

It's a sick site to read reviews about any beer imaginable (You don't have to join, just search the beer in google and it should come up) and about all the different types of styles.

The forums though, are a different story. Most of them are fucking weirdos. Topics like:
Quote
What is the best "flagship" beer on the market?

In my opinion, the best "flagship," or regular line-up (not a reserve or seasonal) beer is the Three Floyds "Alpha King." But heck, there are a lot of great ones out there and many I would put a close second. Thoughts?

What is the biggest example of just how far your beer geekdom goes?

Let me preface my example by saying that, in my work, I've done a lot of work with statistics and graphs. I actually enjoy using spreadsheets.

My ultimate example of geekdom is that I've created a "beer dashboard". In this dashboard, I have listed all of the breweries that I want to sample the beers from. For each brewery, I could how many beers I have already sampled, how many I have in the fridge, and how many are remaining to be purchased. Then, each brewery has a pie chart....with a corresponding color for ones that I've sampled (blue), have in the fridge (yellow), and remaining (red).

Oh, and I have copied the brewery logo for each of them off of the internet, and put it on its pie chart. Right now, I have 20 breweries with a chart.

So that's the greatest example I have. My wife rolled her eyes. I guess I can't blame her.

I mean, I love the stuff more than the average person, but in the end it's just beer. I guess you can be super-passionate about anything.

Sick site though overall.

Budvar is not even close to Becks.
Becks is the shittiest beer i've ever had. I bought a 24-pack having never tasted it and ended up shotguning most of it cause i didnt wanna taste it

Basically porters are good, ipas are good, I love me some stout, pale ales and regular ales are good but red ales are shitty.  Too much hopps for dis nigga.

You do realize that IPA's are usually some of the hoppiest beers you can find right?

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

Since beer has been my girlfriend for the past 6+ years I feel it necessary to "kiss and tell"  :D......
 :-\

...anyway...

Domestic wise (with the most marketing) Coors in the cream colored can is what I prefer, not to mention all the smaller independent breweries that are just fucking radical.  Karl strauss, hanger 24, left coast...etc are all awesome.

Basically porters are good, ipas are good, I love me some stout, pale ales and regular ales are good but red ales are shitty.  Too much hopps for dis nigga.
I can't remember the maker, but I had a double chocolate stout that was hella good.
I have a friend from high school that works at a brewery now and he gave me a ticket to go to a beer tasting convention, which to an alcoholic is like the scene in willy wonka where they finally make it to that room with the candy and the chocolate waterfall.  Anyway, all the belgian style beers were the best. It was funny because there was a tent for joose there and there was actually people in line for it.  You have hundreds of gourmet/exotic beers at your disposal from around the world and you choose that shit?

Newcastle and boddingtons are always worth a go.  Sam adams is a great domestic now that I think about it with a diverse arsenal.

My "bottom bitch" would have to be tall cans of Old E.  I really don't like 40s.  By the end of the bottle all the beer has been sloshed around and is fucking gross.  Plus when you buy two tall boys you get 8 extra ounces.  Aluminum gets a better recycling return too.

PBR does have the hipster factor, but I was surprised when I tried it.  For the price it is actually a pretty good beer.

The new bud light golden wheat is pretty damn good.  As is the bud light lime.

The only beer I don't like is "miller chill".  That stuff is so salty and gross I couldn't drink more than one.

i had never seen coors in the cream colored can up until about 5 months ago.  some guy in gulf breeze, a rich ass city about a 15 minute drive from my house, offered to pay me to till his backyard.  dude even paid to rent the tiller.  after i got done (it was hot as fuck, i live in northwest florida) he came back with two hundred dollar bills and kept offering me beers while i chatted with him, and it was the cream colored coors.  shit was delicious after that work.

shit is so good.   i've never been a huge hefeweizen guy.  it's ok, but was always too watery for me.  and not enough of a beer taste.  but this sutff is awesome . really has a more pronounced taste to it.  almost spicy aftertones..

they have that at my local Trader Joe's..  throw some fresh lemon from our lemon tree and it's a perfect summer afternoon in the making

I've been meaning to sample some Mikkeller stuff, I've seen a lot of different beers of their's around. Before christmas I saw one that had like 20% alcohol and I hoped that Santa would get me some, but butt fuck that dude.

i mostly drink this though, fuckin good for store-brand beer, and really cheap

by the way, is it really true that most beers in the US only have like 3% of alcohol in them? if so, shit is weak.

anyone who posted a macro, adjunct lager, or tasteless swill should die, unless you stated that it is strictly for budgetary purposes.

anyway, you can't really have one favorite beer.  Are you going to drink a stout outside in the summer heat, or a citrus wheat beer by the fireplace in the winter? no. right now I'm getting into scottish beers, and the category of wee heavy.  Oskar blues has a ripping scottish ale, and they have an awesome restaurant/brewery in Lyons Colorado.

don't be fooled by the can.  environmentally friendly packaging is big in the craft beer industry.
