2013 Coffee was out of this world. The stand outs for BCBS were definitely '09/'11 BCBS, Rare and I really liked Vanilla, but I think the beers that stood out to me the most were Hill Farmstead's Florence and Flora. Cracked those open at like 2:30 am but they were just so damn good

What about the barleywine! That's my favorite, I'm a big fan of the rye too.  One that stood out this year for me was Founders Harvest.  Don't get me wrong, I liked it before, but this year's was incredible.

To whoever mentioned Half Acre in Philly(?), we don't even get any in Southern IL  >:( Used to,  used to get 3F too, but no more. On a better note, DFH started distributing here again after 3 years  ;D  Green Flash started just a couple months ago

And next week for me-

Which barley wine? King Henry or BCBBW? The latter won the competition hands down. They're both of the same recipe and King Henry is fairly old, so it didn't quite hold a candle to the recent Barrel Aged Barley Wine

Anyone experiences with self-made beer? I recently "brewed" some myself with one of these ready-made brewing kits... the result is allright but not overwhelming, I think I won't try it again. However, it was worth a try, kinda

I was actually considering purchasing a Mr. Beer kit that was on sale today, but skipped on it.  Home brewing seems awesome but I'm strapped for time as is.  One of my friends started out home brewing and now is the owner of a brewery thats blowing up.

Is there anywhere to get The Bruery's Grey Moday in SF?  I'm going out there for a weekend with the girlfriend and am desperate to try it.

it's a reserve society beer, so unless you can organize a trade you are probably shit outta luck.

if you can get your hands on a bourbon county brand proprietors and something else like a limited pipeworks ipa or a 4 pack of heyoka i bet you could probably get one.

Either/both. I can't say I could pick a favorite, but I did really enjoy this years.

For the glassware thing-  I usually try new stuff out of a tulip first, but I drink almost everything out of an imperial pint glass. I just love the wide mouth.

Key word being almost, as I'm using my tulip now  :D Anyone else a fan of old ales or wee heavies? This one is kind of both IMO

what max said.  your best is to to trade for it.  this years batch doesn't come out till June.

i know that this won't soften the blow, but i was lucky enough to have it on tap earlier this year (2013 batch) and i can honestly say it's the most amazing beer i've ever had.  try and find some good shit to trade, and around June hit the Beer Advocate trade section.  i'm guessing tons of bottles will be changing hands

Yeah, you mentioned it earlier and that's what got me so intrigued.  Where did you get it on tap?  At The Bruery brewery itself?  Thanks for the heads up though.  I'll definitely keep an eye out for some Goose Island rarities for trading.

Nallid, im down.

tried this recently it was damn good.

also very good, and only 2.99 at bevmo

this on tap today, hella good.

my homies homebrewed Czech Pilsner, really sweet but decent for his first go. his next pre-mixed pack is a "mexican cerveza" so im trying to convince him to throw some random ingredient in there for extra flavor.

Hermitage Brewing. pretty much had this brewerys whole lineup the other day at a tasting with my bro-in-law. stuff was pretty good and right here in SJ. that brewery also brews Cali Coast, Highwater, Almanac and Strike stuff.

A crisp lager dry-hopped with a little Sorachi Ace hops sounds good to me, they are really lemon-y. Seems like it could be as easy drinking as ice water with lemon  :P

This and Sierra Nevada Celebration are my favorite beers. So balanced, so much drinkability. Really sucks about the price increase, and going to a seasonal, but then again that's only incentive to getting a kegerator (draft is year-round) and to start brewing my own

Had one of these as an appetizer before dinner
