Any recommendations for good Asian beers?

Kiuchi Brewery is in Japan and they make all the Hitachino beers.

Had Lucky Bastard last night, really good. Also tried Vanilla Oatis which was good as well. Had Kalamazoo Stout and Milkshake Stout the night before. Both were good. Hopefully have my Arctic Saison from Grassroots when I get back from helping my parents move today.

@Stoop
The purchase was really three Bastard boxes and three packs of Backwoods  ;D

Forgot how juicy Lucky was, but I have been drinking more AB this year than ever via the mixed 12s. Anyone have info on the "classified" dry hop? I get a very bright flavor that reminds me of El Dorado, but finishes much cleaner than any ED hopped beer I've had. Not much of the lemony tanginess I usually get. I'm sure it could easily be the rich malt flavors playing with it, though.

I'm loving Celebration this year, but SN themselves said their hops turned out significantly different (and later) this year. Super jealous of that Born Yesterday

Chose this swill for my small party last night, finishing up the last few today. Cheers!

hit up the torpedo room today and got a couple things. 2 BA maple stouts, a BA narwhal, 2 regular ass narwhals, an ovila quad and 3 2014 bigfoot's. the bigfoots were to round out the 3 6 year (soon to be 7) verticals i've been holding on to. sorry for the shitty pic.

I'm def. an IPA slut. In Spain they call them "ee-pa" which i think is cute when a sexy Spanish bartender corrects you.

Man I am getting really jealous of all these rad purchases. Wednesday is going to be a big day for me to spend cash. Backwoods and a bunch of other goods are being delivered to the local. Also BA narwhal is not being distributed in Nj because theres no UPC on the bottle. Really dumb.

Gonna BART over to SF and ride my bike up to Fort Point for industry night over there.
Check them out if you are in SF/Bay area. Great dudes, setting them selves up to be major players in the bay area scene.

nice.  they have a tasting room?  planning on making an SF trip soon.  a few bay area breweries i have yet to check out

a friend of mine brought back some Westy 12 from Belgium this past weekend.  it was good but it's kind of hard not to be let down by a beer with that much hype.  also Belgians are not my favorite style.  was appreciative to get to try it though

gonna have to check them out. I enjoyed the beer I had at mikkeller (manzanita).

westy is a disappointment compared to the hype. st bernadus 12 or rochefort 10 is every bit as good and available everywhere.

Where are you getting this info? I looked through the ABC Handbook and couldn't find anything pertaining to UPCs being required. And there are plenty of wines at my store without UPCs. Here's the label for BA Narwhal:

Having had all 3, Rochefort 10 is my favorite of the bunch.  Then again, I'm not the biggest Belgian Quad fan.

I'm getting the information straight from the sales guy. I could be wrong on what the issue was I'm pretty sure he sai the UPC, but there's a legal issue and NJ isn't getting it. I even called a store south of me and they said the same thing.

Went to 8 different places in Long Island and was unsuccessful in getting BA Narwhal. I even found a place that's selling it online but doesn't ship to NJ. My hopes of ever getting some is pretty much shattered. On a side note had 2013 BCS and 2013 Port Older Viscosity on tap. Older was so much better. This years Backwoods is also phenomenal. I was lucky enough to snag a case of it.

Interesting.  I love older visco but for me BCS still wins.  Also Port / Lost Abbey prices can be a bit ridiculous.   I'll still get some sometimes, but but I don't think Older Viscosity or BA Santas Little Helper are worth more than BCS or Parabola

Hope you get some Narwhal Stoop.  There's always trading

I read they made 50% more than they did BA Bigfoot last year, so hopefully there'll be some out there

Went to the Bruery again this weekend.  Been going almost every weekend lately.

They had their Mash (barrel aged barleywine) infused with coconut on again.  It's indescribably amazing.

considering i'm NOT in sydney at the moment the best beer i recently had was a yona yona ale which was surprisingly good (especially because i don't like most japanese beer)

Impish sausage is definitely gonna blow up as a euphemism this year
