I'm glad other people like the Sam Adams Small Batch stuff.  There's a liquor store by my parents' place that has it and I'd pick up a bottle from there every once in a while.  They're super interesting brews and styles.  Like, they have a Sahti too which was crazy.

Had Stone's Master of Disguise Imperial Golden Stout on NYE.  It was really good.  Had a nice stout flavor, some dark chocolate notes towards the end with a great malted out mouthfeel.  A huge factor in enjoying it was definitely the novelty of a golden stout though.

I found a barrel-aged Narwhal too so I picked that up.  Might have that tonight.  Maybe with a cigar.

Out here in Stowe they have Heady Topper everywhere. I'm in heaven. I also found a bunch of Prarie, Stillwater, and Evil Twin stuff. I also got to meet the head brewer from BFM because he's out here on a ski trip.

You should totally gopickitupformebro some heady topper, that would be chill. Any luck getting to Hill Farmstead? I heard it's kind of a pain in the ass, but totally worth it

I'm going to try and go there on Thursday. We've been up here for 1 day so far and we got a monster snow storm and I drank heady like it was water.

wasn't that what it originally was called (or something like that) but they had to change it?

i renewed my cellar storage rental for another year, although somewhat hesitatingly.

i'm at a phase now where i don't really believe in "cellaring" per se.  i think if you are storing beers, big beers, it's better to store them at cellar temperature instead of in your fridge or in a place where the temp fluctuates a lot daily.  but at the end of the day i think it's probably usually better to drink any beer fresh, or within the first 4-6 months.   i'm sure there are exceptions, but i think those are outweighed by most beers.

after last year i'm realizing that i have way too much beer to get through for one person.  most of my cellar is untouched (that's just the stuff in the cellar, not in my house)..

broke open a Huna recently that was about a year and a half old and it was pretty disappointing.  i've had it fresh and it's amazing.  on the flipside i broke open a 2012 parabola and it was amazing.  but then, i'm sure it would have been great fresh.  i think overall you're better off drinking fresher

this year i'm going to a) drink more of the beers i have  b) consider more events "special occasions"  c) try to buy less beers

i'd like to get back to a place where i have a manageable number of beers.

these are my 2015 beer resolutions

Ha, I don't know - but the upper/downer combo wreaks havoc on your senses. I'm guessing this is what Meth must feel like.

I feel you on Cellaring though, Floop - I just store shit in the basement underneath the house. I give them to my friends for a wedding, or drink them around Christmas or something. I think stouts are the way to go when it comes to cellaring, or something real boozy like Backwoods Bastard.

I have  this - and it's about 4 years old at this point, it can go to 5. Could be good, could be vinegar. who knows...

I've been aging a case of Matilda's though - and holy shit are they awesome. I kinda wonder since InBev bought out Goose Island though all that cool shit is gone.

i don't 'cellar' that much anymore, but what i do keep now is mostly sours. it's more just keeping shit for when i have an occasion/person to share it with that will appreciate it.

Could not make it to Hill Farmstead due to all the snow storms. Driving conditions have been terrible. I was able to get two of there beers in bottle form however. Heady out here sells so ridiculously fast though. Had to wait in line for that shit this morning. It's sold out in minutes.

Not surprised, I happened upon a secret shipment at the place around the corner from ProPig. Probably one of the luckiest moments of my life. Also bought supplies for my Hitch Hikers Guide beer (all galaxy pale ale). That was a damn good day

I had that Barrell-aged Narwhal on Friday and was definitely disappointed in it.  It was too heavy on the bourbon and not enough of a strong stout backbone.  It taste a little sour or off too because of the mix of flavors.  Like when you get that little sour flavor from bad or burnt coffee.  Definitely not worth how much it costs in my opinion.

We finally got Oskar Blue's in Nebraska. Got a sixer of Dale's PA in the fridge right now. I think I'll have one right now.

Is that the rum barrel aged one? I have one of those and the Evan Williams ba one. Expensive but I'm hoping they're worth it.
