i renewed my cellar storage rental for another year, although somewhat hesitatingly.
i'm at a phase now where i don't really believe in "cellaring" per se. i think if you are storing beers, big beers, it's better to store them at cellar temperature instead of in your fridge or in a place where the temp fluctuates a lot daily. but at the end of the day i think it's probably usually better to drink any beer fresh, or within the first 4-6 months. i'm sure there are exceptions, but i think those are outweighed by most beers.
after last year i'm realizing that i have way too much beer to get through for one person. most of my cellar is untouched (that's just the stuff in the cellar, not in my house)..
broke open a Huna recently that was about a year and a half old and it was pretty disappointing. i've had it fresh and it's amazing. on the flipside i broke open a 2012 parabola and it was amazing. but then, i'm sure it would have been great fresh. i think overall you're better off drinking fresher
this year i'm going to a) drink more of the beers i have b) consider more events "special occasions" c) try to buy less beers
i'd like to get back to a place where i have a manageable number of beers.
these are my 2015 beer resolutions
