Making hard cider is even easier than brewing beer.

You and the D00D have turned this thread into a horrible head-on-collision between a short bus full of regular kids and a van full of paraplegics.

If you would just do it, then we wouldn't have to pressure you.

Hell, you don't even need to add yeast if you press the apples yourself. Just make sure you aerate to give the critters something to survive on

Also let it be known that when you make your own cider it won't be sweet like commercial varieties, it will be more tart/ tannic, which is the style I prefer, but I know some people don't

yup, cider is super easy to make. a couple years ago a buddy made cider with crab apples and it was amazing.

I was pleasantly surprised with Hop Hunter. Hopefully they put it into a more concrete rotation.

Yeah it's going to be a year rounder.

Just smashed my Certified Cicerone test yesterday. Results in 6 weeks. Afterwards went to Magnolia in the dogpatch then a few other spots.

Whoa missed out on a lot in this thread. Weyerbacher is definitely the shit. Try mixing the imperial pumpkin with old heathen. New levels of awesome. GF sculpin and habanero sculpin hit NJ not too long ago and in the first week in monmouthy county the assholes at the store thought it was a specialty release( didnt know they would be getting delivered year round) so they broke up the 6pks and did a one bottle limit and were charging $5.99 a bottle. It was outrageous and I refused to pay and waited a week until they got that shit straightened out. Had Neshaminys blitzkrieg hops and that is an amazing dipa and i recommend it very much.

Floop- As for my SF trip im definitely going to go to Russian river, 21st amendment, triple voodoo, and steelhead. Any other spots or breweries you recommend?

the tour guide loves bringing up how much weed the founder smokes.

for me, brewery tours all pretty much run together at this point, unless they are doing something interesting like all wilds or using coolships.

prancake man, try visit cellarmaker and the rare barrel. drakes and faction are good too. sante adairius is awesome, but it's in capitola. they always have one or two of their beers at the rare barrel, though. there's a few bars in the city that are definitely worth a visit, too. toronado, zeitgeist, etc. shit there's so many things.

congrats on the ciceroneship matt. i have to make the trip up there sometime.

if you're going up to RR Lagunitas is worth a stop over.  their brewpub / beer garden has a good vibe.  i did the tour too and it was fun, though i don't remember pours on the tour, i remember you could bring a pint with you

whatever you do don't drive up to Racer 5.  it's not worth the drive

go to SARA, so i can live vicariously through you

my brother in law's band was playing a show up there. didn't seem like there was much there except rich people and wine bars.

curious if anyone here has used mybeercellar

i don't think i'd ever buy anything off there but i recently started selling a few things, just to test the waters.  mainly because i simply have too much beer.  i know that sounds like a good problem, but i've decided to start slimming down the collection.  especially on bottles 2 years or older, and ones i have multiples of.

i'm pretty amazed at what people are willing to pay.  I'm actually making money on beer.  i'm sure it's illegal.  and not in keeping with the ethos of craft beer.  but what are you going to do?  i need to make room for new beer

I'm sure you're following the thread on TB for mybeercellar, but if you're making money off of someone who desperately wants a beer it would be un-American of you to not take advantage
