it's such a vicious cycle. it's like everyone on the internet wants to know everything about every professional skateboarder they looked up to as a kid, but then are horrified by what they find and then hate on said professional skateboarder. i guess the bottom line is: was it worth it? was it worth seeing penny in Amsterdam looking homeless? was it worth seeing wenning wasted acting like a jock? was it worth it seeing pappalardo morph into a hipster that you'd definitely hate if he wasn't who he was? who is left to look up to? paul rodriguez, or someone else who carefully watches their image and how they market it? or the girl team who is "the epitome of cool?" again, all marketing. you're tripping if you don't think those dudes do just as much embarrassing shit when their not being filmed. this stuff is funny if you can take it with a grain of salt and still get motivated by the great skateboarding these guys have done/still do. if you let it take over though, it just seems like you're the ones who are losing. give me penny in hi 5, wenning in photo, and pops in mosaic any day over any of these clean cut cool guys of today. and im out.
