I think it was 2003 , the first year of the bayview rumble tradeshow in sf, i got to go to a party at some bar/club that kent from ftc owned and met too many dudes. huf, reese forbes, matt field, satva, scott bourne, tnt, brad johnson, john igei, dan wolfe, too many others to list, everyone was really cool, such a good experience. Having it be my first time in California and basically having never met anyone I looked up to in videos, it was pretty mind blowing.
I remember getting up super early and bombing hills, i was dragging my foot and i look back and i see some guy with a coffee smashing, he waved as he went past, it was dennis busenitz. Probably doing 30+ mph.Pretty sick.

the day of bust or bail, me and my friends were walking to bart from third and army down this pretty steep hill and we see tony t smashing down the hill. he didn't wave though, and we had to think for a second before we realized who he was.

The Muska rode buy my friends and I on his bike saturday in nyc, I had to double-take to realize it was him. He looks like hipster-Jesus. Needless to say Muska will forever be a legend.

Skated down to the train station the other day, and it was cool to see Jamie Tancowny skating the rail there.

The first pro I ever met was Colby Carter back when I still lived in Arizona. It was right after he got his board out on H-Street. I just ran across this video of some more recent stuff and am posting it for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy. This footage is from 2008 I believe. Looks like he is still going to work.

I skated with Rob Dyrdek and Steve Berra once. They were both really really cool.   I got to talk to Tony Turbo who was there filming the skateboard segments for Rob and Big.  Skated with Jereme Rogers, Brian Anderson, Justin Strubing, Nilton Neves, Eli Reed, Nick Dompierre, Lenny Rivas, Ronnie Creager, Bam, Kerry Getz, and many more all before the "official" practice at tampa the following year.  Then I got to skate with Sean Conover in florida at St. Augustine Skatepark.  I have met many pros and there were only one that was genuinely not a nice dude.  This guy being, Jereme Rogers.

partied with the emerica team when i was in gr.12. herman, spanky, ellington, leo, and a bunch of canadian ams or flow or whatever were there all drunk as fuck, it ruled.
me and leo talked black metal i remember, ellington held a shotgunning beer contest
apparently heath stayed at the hotel to "watch tennis" aka jerk off
no reynolds though, even though hes sober it woulda been rad to see him there
they were all the nicest dudes, spanky was explaining ellington to us and hes said "hes just a bit of a broverload sometimes"
[close]

Apparently a girl I know from an English class in University made out with Leo that night and he told her he loved her. Maybe you know this same girl?!

Gailea Momolu told a seventeen year old me to get girls by "letting them know'. Then he yelled "DOLLS! IM THE ONE FOR YOU" at a group of passing girls. This technique has yet to work for me.

Maybe because you are inanimate object? Yet, you are able to post on Slap, it must be one of life's mysteries.

we were raging at the bar one night... dancing and swinging our shirts around.. we ran out of money for booze and got super bummed.. the chick we were with went up to strubing and had him buy us beers.. he had no problem with it. saw him a week later and he rememberd us as the 'crazy drunk dudes from the bar'.. strubs is super backed. that same night i must have bummed like 5 or 6 cigs off jack sabback... they were rollies though.. he even rolled them for me. rad ddude.

Many years ago, I organized a Tum Yeto in my town.  Most of the pros were cool...BA was really nice and the demo. mvp, Trainwreck was skinny, The Chief was a bit of a dick(I think he was pissy b/c the other dudes ate all the pizza we got them).

Met danny way at a demo in '01, he was riding a 50cc dirtbike in the Encinitas YMCA vert ramp, doing 6 foot airs over coping. He parked on top of a pyramid for a sec and me and my friends swarmed him for autographs. he was really cool about it
Met alex gall at another demo in '02, he was doing nose manuals across the whole parking lot and, being 12, i thought it was rad
I met bobby worrest at an indoor community center sesh in northern virginia. He was doing waist-high switch flip back tails on two stacked ledges
Tosh Townend, Marquise Preston, David Loy are all regulars at Costa Mesa park now, and they're all cool. After talking to David Loy i was bummed to find out my old friend Shaun Stulz fell off and deals acid now.
Tuesday, i skated with Chima, Lewis Marnell, and Darrell Stanton at the volcom warehouse. They were all rad, and i was fanning out hard

this is not much of an "encounter" but..

today at a health food in Santa Monica i saw Natas, in the flesh.  he cruised in and went to the deli counter in the back.  i guess he still lives in SM..

anyway, probably my #1 skate idol from back in the day.  i didn't say anything to him because i was pretty speechless, and wouldn't know what to say anyway that wouldn't sound stupid.

not an encounter per se but i was stoaked
