This happens so much in my photography class. People who don't skate will go to the bigger outdoor skateparks in Antwerp to shoot the skaters and come back with dozens of pictures of people just about to ollie, hanging on at the end of a boardslide, rolling away from a rock fakie,... And the teacher will love them. The framing and lighting might be okay, but as the only skateboarder in my class, I'm the only one to be utterly bothered with how the photo looks.

i've been the victim of these photos and a couple newspaper ones. i decided to say no from now on, it makes you feel like a dick but they will find another victim to horribly photograph

newspaper captions are always classic. i too got some hang time... skating flatground in a parking lot "practicing my maneuvers"

Skateboard photos in newspapers is garbage! I shot one of a fs feeble down a rail from the opening of an indoor park. A newspaper called and wanted to buy a photo of me for the story and they got that one. It was shot with a fisheye, and I was stoked they wanted to use a real skateboard photo and not just some random point and shoot shit. When I saw the photo in the newspaper they had cropped the shit out of it even though it was a fisheye shot, and it ended up being a photo of a front truck and half a leg on top of a skatepark rail.

Haha Thomas that's terrible, but at least you got paid.

I was on campus one day when my university had hired photographers to take stock photos for publicity and marketing. I got caught in the bad skateboard photo trap. Now every time the photo gets used I have people sending links to it. A lot of face palm action follows.

It was in USNews' profile for my university in their college ranking report for the year.

Caption: "PhilaU's campus provides plenty of space for students to kick back."

I have front tails but only on ledges. Finally manned up and tried it on the flatbar. Died the first time, went into a front lip and you already know whats next. But kept trying, until I actually got the hang of it. Still scary to me but I was pretty stoked nonetheless. Looks gay but I was pretty happy. I want to learn back tails on rails but fuck that I don't think I ever can, it's too damn scary.
