Hope you can at least bunt your way through the french (Quebecois, not France french) language.  Otherwise your anglo-ass will make great  filling on a smoked meat sandwich!

yes, not expensive, beautiful women everywhere, and tons of skate spots. cheap smokes, cheap booze.
beautiful city, aesthetically, as well. its no problem to live there if you don't speak french, you'll eventually pick up the essentials.

The subway system there is good.  The train makes a funny horn song when it comes and goes.
