Looking at that Lizard King topic, it made me wonder why the American companies or media have sucha fixture in giving stupid nicknames o skaters sometimes?

Marketability?

Dyslexia (Sp?)?

Jock attitude..?

Catchy, but a lot of people already have nicknames and they use them when they get hooked up. Plus it is all in fun so lighten up and enjoy.

half of my actual friends have nicknames. what are they selling? if it helps the industry we obviously love, who cares at all? if you don't like "american" marketing, don't buy it. plain and simple. tah-duh.

Breeze = Fabrizio Santos.
Butcher = Diego Bucchieri
Trainwreck was in a minor train accident as a kid, but fuck knows where Lizard King comes from. Those guys Nick Trep (Trepanier?) and Wade Desormo (Des Ormeaux) changed their names because, unfortunately, a lot of English/US skaters would never get it right.

The only thing I know for sure is that there is a character in the movie Hollywood Shuffle named Cookiehead Jenkins, and that movie came out in the mid-eighties, so it's possible it could've originated from there.

Jim Morrison was THE Lizard King, not Lizard King.

Plus he's long dead....the lizards have been laying around on rocks and logs since....who cares though...the monarchy thing is outdated anyways.
