I get a good laugh every time I see this referenced because y'all are so hung up on your own misunderstanding/trolling that I never even bothered mentioning I actually managed a Lakai warehouse. It became more fun to roll with it and watch you all make asses of yourselves without knowing it. My old roomie used to religiously rock the black/gum Manchester cups waaaaay back, years before I ever worked for Lakai. I was never confused about that shoe. Slap Pals just can't read very well.

Isn't there interviews floating about with folk that have worked for/rode for Vans saying they totally fucked it in the 2000s trying to put out tech shoes (chunky at the time, not so much now).

Aren't all these shoes like those AVEs, rapidweld and Ultrarange more ventures they'll like to forget in 5 years time.

Agreed. Vans needs to learn from their past when no one gave a shit about their versions of the same tech shoes as everyone else. They’re massively popular right now because of their simple vulc shoes, they should stick to that.

I don't mind the AVEs but are they wafflecup? I feel like that's something that everyone likes that I can't deal with. I'm on the outs with that. I got a free pair of Walkers and just gave them to a skateshop because there was no way I could bear the construction of the shoe.

The new AVEs are a cupsole, but apparently it's a different construction than a wafflecup.

I'm torn on them. Kinda on the walrus fence I guess. I'm also a sucker for white Vans with the black stripe and they don't seem to release that color too often.

They supposedly are. I posted a picture of him wearing them a couple of months back. They using a lot more mesh, but it looks like the design is same otherwise.

Well, yeah. Why not? I never skated the re-released ones but apparently they were notoriously shitty.

Hopefully they follow DC’s example by re-releasing high-quality shoes instead of trying to make a quick buck off their customers’ nostalgia with some cheap pieces of shit.
