Why would you literally embroider the name of another shoe by another brand on the heel of a new shoe?
Is lakai really that detached?
Does 90-3mc have some correlation to Mike Carroll ?
I think it means the code of reflective color or something like that, Girl did board series with that number being the name of it.

New Nike SB Bruins. $100.00. https://www.skatewarehouse.com/Nike_SB_Bruin_React_Shoes/descpage-NKBRBWB.html

There is a separate Nike thread in the list below the pinned threads. You should post there.

3M is one of the largest companies making reflective materials, as well as adhesives and other general use manufactured items.
I'm assuming they added the extra numbers 90-3MC for no reason other than it maybe sounding like 1993' - Mike Carroll along with the 3M collaboration. Crail isn't usually that creative with things like that.

My big gripe with with "core" shoe companies reissuing or reimagining older models is when they keep using soles from other models in their line. Es and Lakai reuse sole designs on so many models, I can't stand that. I know it's a cost thing but come on. Back in the day they'd have unique sole designs for each and every model. Once they figured out that they can save a few dollars by putting the same sole on multiple models it started to really stand out to me and bother me.

This, 100%. These new Es shoes are like a bizarro version of the originals that were plucked from an alternate universe. DC did it right by offering the Legacy, Lynx, Kalis 1 & Williams 1 as they originally existed, and that’s why they sold well with ppl like me. Ofc there were slimmed and updated versions too for newer skaters who lack the nostalgia we feel, but they absolutely made sure we got what we asked for. Do companies like Es and Lakai lack the money to invest in re-issuing a shoe with a unique sole mold/ composition that isn’t easily shared with other models? That might be the reason why all of these Es models lack airbags & subsequently have retooled soles no one asked for. They have so many classic silhouettes in their back catalogue that could easily keep us satiated, but their unwillingness/ inability to fully commit to a true 1:1 reissue is the main reason why I haven’t purchased any of their re-releases. I bought the Lynx, the Williams, and the Kalis since they were true to form & I had a sentimental attachment to them; even though they may be dated compared to whatever current technology is being utilized in the new Nike/ Adidas models & have access to free Nike’s, I wanted to buy my childhood back with my hard earned money. I bought them because I wanted to support a company who did something right.

If someone at Es is reading this, please hear me out. I’m a grown ass man with disposable income who WANTS a reason to give you my money, you should oblige and give me what I’m asking for. I understand that some shoes like the Koston models probably require some sort of retooling due to rights’ issues or w/e, but there’s no reason why you can’t give me a 1:1 reissue of a team shoe or a Creager Es pro-model. I grew up almost exclusively skating Es and DC for the models you had out back then, exactly as they were, and the only thing keeping me from continuing down that trajectory is your own lack of commitment. Go all the way with it, or don’t do it at all...
At least when you're a washed-out hipster douchebag in NY, you can milk it at some decent looking, hard to skate spots. In LA you're just a tan-lined faggot in a school yard somewhere.

Yes, that's the exact reason (as has been stated on here multiple times). Nike and all the big corpo brands took over half the market away from the 'core' brands. Investing in a new cupsole is incredibly expensive, and even back in the day brands tried to use the same sole on a few models to get their money's worth. Now that they are operating on a shoe string budget, they can't just spend loads of money on a reissued sole in hopes that the very small niche group of guys who want 100% legit remakes will buy them by the truck load. Winners has had a steady supply of the reissue DC's where I live - for $39.99 - so something tells me DC is having trouble selling through their stock.

Pros selling out to ride for corpo brands and all the skaters who followed suit by only buying Nike etc are the ones to direct your frustration at. The 'core' brands are literally just trying to keep the lights on for another season at this point.

They came back a few years back but it was a Dime collab.

Maybe they put them back for future seasons?

Van's bringing back the Fairlanes?

Reynolds' post doesn't seem clear on if they're actually coming back (maybe those are just a sample or something?), but they did bring them back for one or two seasons when they went nuts on reissues for their 50th anniversary, so they still have the tooling and everything on hand if they do want to. I'm not that hyped on the Fairlanes, but I do hope they reuse that sole and put a couple normal looking cupsoles in the lineup.

Sidenote - the toe looks too long/skinny on the reissues. Looks like they lengthened the toe and put the eyelets closer together to make room. The longer toe is what makes them look like Accel Slims. I couldn't find a good photo of old Fairlanes, but you get the idea of the difference in shape from the mids here:

I had several pairs of the Fairlanes in the mid-late '90s. Such a good shoe. Nothing like an ES Accel. I bought some Accels back in '98 when I couldn't find any Fairlanes. The Accels quickly became my least favorite shoes I ever skated. Zero grip on the Accels compared to the Fairlanes.

I respect what you’re saying, but why can’t they find ways around that? An Es Creager sole could fit a plethora of shoe designs, they could have easily fit it onto the Quattro re-release. Sure it’s an investment, but my problem is that Es and Lakai aren’t marketing to ME; why are their core efforts concentrated on selling bland Emerica vulc models to kids who are mostly gonna ride Vans anyway? Why wouldn’t they take the hint that we’ve been giving them for years now, and use a niche to sell to adults with disposable income who wanna recapture their childhood? Nike does it and wins, and now DC is retroing shoes and winning. Discounts at particular shops on core brand shoes aren’t indicative of overall sales, it has more to do with DC not handling supply correctly. The first release sold out quickly, and they overshot the next couple of releases and fell short, but now they’ve honed it in and they’re consistently moving units enough to have multiple versions of each shoe in a variety of color ways. Sole Tech definitely got raked over the coals by Nike and Adidas, but that was over a decade ago and the “big corporate” excuse doesn’t work in this case,  because they have a niche they can easily exploit like DC did. Es doesn’t even feel like a company, and if they don’t start making some moves they should just scrap the entire thing imho bc it’s not working for anyone. Who’s their demographic? It should be us, but somehow Don Brown and Kelly Hart are too dumb to realize that. That’s the problem with core companies, they suck at business for the most part and that’s the reason why they always come in last place.

Japan seem to be way ahead on Vans releases...

Epoch Sport Pro build like the Quasi colab a while back, I've been skating a Vault pair of these and love them, so it's nice to see it back in the pro range.

Half Cabs look like they're both in the Classic & Pro ranges again, bit like how Rowleys are released now.

Can't wait to get those Asics, do exactly one ollie, and have torn up stripes sticking out the side of my shoe in five different directions.
