I honestly like them both. And I can’t believe they’re $79. I was thinking over $100. I’m relieved.

I also really like them both especially the brown. And I also expected them closer to a 100. Definitely will coo some at some point ( just got 272s so it may be a bit ) they remind me of a vans era that you can or wear normally or dress up for like a date or something.

It’s just a different outsole. I asked on their IG about vulc or cup at some point and they answered their current releases are vulc but they’re looking how to do cupsoles.

Bought way too many skate shoes recently or else I’d strongly consider buying these.  The black ones look great.  If they drop an all white colorway I’d be forced to pull the trigger and add another unnecessary shoe to my current rotation.

If they extended the toe cap piece back to the next stitch and stopped using that fucking nylon these would be some of the best shoes out right now. Just make regular colorways with good materials and let it rip already CONS. Maybe they're afraid (not allowed) to shake up their big brothers dunk party?

got a lil ollie hole starting like 5 solid sessions in between the toecap and the first stitching on the sidewall- lil superglue adn should be good!

But as you said- REALLY dunkalike for real! but could nike really do that?

I know it doesn’t look great but I super glue the Ollie area before taking them out the first time and add more as I go. Blow through the toe leather or sole before the nylon that way.

they’ve been blowing it with the shams since they didn’t do more than like 2 seasons … there’s very little vans could do these days that would get me hyped, but if they really wanted to try, XLTs or shams would certainly pique my interest

In 2024 they will do a 20 year anniversary release of the dr T but by then the bright coloured high top cupsole trend will be basically over. Also rather than the shams or XLT they will redo the rowley slims or the squares which while decent enough shoes at the time nobody really gives a shit about them.

I must have been lucky. I stayed away from Vans for many years until the new SKATE line came out. Since the revamped shoes came out nearly 2 years ago, I have had approximately 12 pairs and only one had the foxing separation issue. I contacted Vans customer service online, filled out a form and sent a photo of the defect with my receipt and they gave me a gift card to get a new pair.

Now Lakai on the other hand...  I skated a bunch of Lakai shoes and at least half of them had major issues with the foxing tape and there response was basically "get fucked".

I'm skating the white with black sole (technically dawn blue with black sole but they just look white) right now and I love them. I'm actually gonna get the brown ones to skate because I kinda wanna keep the white ones just for chillers.

Mine are regular line and not the Skate version and the cushioning is pretty good in the sole, I'm sure a Skate one would be great. It's basically a perfect cupsole. I would compare the thickness of the sole to a Dunk but the upper isn't as wide and the tongue isn't as puffy. Comparing them to a less puffy Accel is pretty accurate. Feels like what an Accel slim should be instead of that terrible thing eS made. Really surprised Vans isn't pushing this shoe harder and that it's not more popular.

Damn right! I bought the new Welsh's only to get them and be bummed out on the quality.  I then see them on clearance for half price a few weeks later. Never again.

It's quite possible. Puma Japan does a lot of "Galapagos"/Japan-only releases. They have a MIJ (Made In Japan) line of lifestyle shoes. As noted in other threads, Vans Japan is largely it's own animal as well.

There are a lot of other vestigial/living fossil companies that have long since gone the way of the dodo in their home countries that still exist here.

I think the regular suede, baskets, clydes whatever else look much better ..
