The sole on the Opus shoes looks too narrow, unfortunately I won’t be trying them, even though the simplicity of the black mid is really nice.

The Opus Mid has my eye. A version with a black upper, black foxing tape, and a gum outsole would get my money.

I would also like an Emerica Pillar in that colorway.

I like it too and have felt the same way about the pillar. I’d like the opus more if that canvas patch was a breathable mesh. If I see those though I’d pick them up , that’s a classic shoe design. So long as the materials for the upper are quality. The sole looks iffy but I’ve learned that’s an issue with small brands. Only state has had a sole I liked out of small brands, even the much loved HUF shoes had that terrible generic china sole

The 440 is pretty narrow in the midfoot/heel section of the sole, to be honest. Toe box not as much. I personally felt them to be too narrow overall so I ditched the two pairs I had from that crazy 2020 sale.

Vulcs carry a different sole shape from cups due to construction but these look rounder to me than not, which is a plus.

Is all their product overpriced, or it just seems that way to me here in AU because shipping pretty much doubles the overall cost of anything?

Curious more than anything, but I have never really looked very closely at any of their stuff and just heard others saying that, so it would be interesting to know from anyone elsewhere in the world.

The shop here had every color and they were affordable so we skated them pretty heavy. It wasn’t for too long as right about then we all switched to puma or gazelles.

There were a bunch of similar but slightly cooler shoes on the skate shop walls at that time. Now there are maybe no shoes out that look and feel how skate shoes did in 1994-98 or so. When they try, they seem to miss the mark every time (e.g. the current iterations of the eS Accel and Etnies Rap). If they did a proper J Lee reissue today (with good suede, the correct puff level, etc.), it would stand out on the shop wall because there wouldn't be a KCK and a Sal 23 right next to it.

You can half size down, I’d still recommend trying them on, cause despite that fact I still got the 10.5 cause my feet swell up sometimes

i'd say best check the Converse AS-1 Thread on these.

My personal opinion would be TTS/ same size as fastbreaks though

I go TTS as well, though many users say half size down.
