It's as thin an unsupportive as a vulc. I find Wafflecup actually a bit less supportive than the regular Vans Skate vulc sole, since they put the little shank in the heel on those. Wafflecup works for a lot of people, but it functions and feels like a slightly tweaked vulc sole, rather than a cup. It's not a BAD sole unit, but it's not significantly different from the vulc version, and I think people were hoping for something more substantial - like the soles on the Zahba or Rowan 2.

Ok, thanks for clearing. I thought maybe ppl were hoping they’d be thicc like 1010’s or something.
Wayvee’s worked fine for me, but I am a pretty thin cup kind of guy. Can’t skate vulcs though at all anymore.

Not really eyeing any Vans, but could give the Rowan 2’s a chance.

In 2025 I honestly think you’d have to be insane to put vans on your feet. I don’t think their shoes could feel any more crappy and cheap and just terrible for your feet, if they tried to make them worse .

maybe they look better on foot, and basically identical from the top down. It does appear that they added a bunch of flourish to the sole. Maybe they wanted to make sure the shoe was visually different to avoid confusion like how the new accels have 96 on them.

The flappy duracap underlays just aren’t doing it for me. Don’t really want random bits of plastic hanging off my seams and don’t wanna spend money on shoes ima just cut up right away either.
I do understand why they mighta made the design decision, I just wish they hadn’t.

Personally really like the way the half cab cup came out, looks good in hand rather than product pictures. The old skool is whatever, I don’t think it’ll make people buy it over the og. The era looks like a damn boat. Shits super unproportionate.
