I was just looking online for the same thing... skate companies only have good jackets at 100 plus.

Any good brands that would be more budget friendly??

I'm such a gore-tex fanboy. I have some Nike gore-tex hiking shoes, I wear them everyday of winter.

i got a nike sportswear jacket, and it's the first thing I've ever had that's actually waterproof, water just beads off of it, windproof too....

they keep you toasty but its kind of overkill.
if you're rocking a northface, all you can wear is a t-shirt underneath and even then you're sweating.
i prefer layering at least that way i can shed some clothes as i get warmed up.

i got a indy windbreaker for skating and a thicker spitfire coat for just going out.  i know i could buy cheaper non-skate clothing but i love skateboarding, so if given the choice, i'll buy something skate related before all else.

Just said the same thing in the windbreaker thread... But a us military ecws parka is great... Its goretex, thin and fairly lightweight.  I got mine at a thrift store, but probably easier to find at a surplus store or online

I got my last two jackets from Gabriel Brothers'. Just one of those retail stores that gets all the fuckups or extras. They always have good shit too, quality/name brands for dirt cheap.
