Rakim is one of my Fav's. I was really in to hip-hop in the mid to late 90's: Raekwan-cuban links, The 1st Ghostface, Mobb Deep-the infamous, Big L- The Lifestyles cd, Mos Def & Talib Blackstar, Roots-do you want more, Common-Ressurection. Man that was some good shit. What happened to hip hop: lil wayne, drake, birdman, young jeezy. That is fucking garbage. Maybe I'm just getting old or need to be high to enjoy that crap. Has all the good/lyricist rap gone completely underground? Haven't been able to find much, that Nas & Damian Marley is good. Thats really the only thing I've heard all year. Guess I'll keep listening to old Necro cd's. What are some good rappers that are out now?

i was listening to gimme yours w/ nas when i scrolled onto this, doe or die is IMO one of the greatest hip hop albums of its era but gets overshadowed by a lot of other records that came out around that time. AZ is the shit, have all his albums, so good. Him and Nas will forever be my favorite hiphop duo. Nas is my favorite artist though, the best rapper, fuck what anyone says.
also ive been listening to Big K.R.I.T.s new album KRIT Wuz Here, shits bangin and he produces a lot of his own beats, really good lyrics and flow too, something a lot of "rappers" today dont have, it has a heavy southern style to it, which normally im not that into, but i like this album a lot.
this track gets me hyped

this one is just real shit, the way he flows with the beat is crazy good too!
