Javier has always been one of my favourite skateboarders - he just had “it”; no need for gimmicks or hucking - he had skills and style beyond almost everyone else.
I remember seeing him skate Stalin square half a lifetime ago. First two bench tricks in the line he was filming were s/w bs noseblunt and k/f bs noseblunt. So fast and so proper- it would be a good line now but was mind blowing back then
I travelled a couple of stops with him on the Euro merry go round even longer ago. It was the year he had clips doing nollie backside flip late front foot slip over a vast hip at Munster . Point is he was such a nice unassuming guy. No trace of ego, loved skating, interesting and 100% chill and easy to get on with
Just my 2 cents. I’ve met some complete entitled assholes over the years and some amazing people- Javier definitely is one of the latter and deserves to be celebrated
